ITV is launching a new psychological thriller called Gone. It’s written by George Kay, who’s been nominated for a BAFTA award for his work on shows like The Long Shadow and Hijack, and stars Eve Myles and David Morrissey.
The new six-episode drama will be filmed in and around Bristol, using a private school, a nearby forest, and the city itself as key locations. The story centers on a mysterious event involving Michael Polly, the school’s headmaster, who will be portrayed by actor Morrissey, known for his role in Sherwood.
He’s initially presented as a respectable, well-organized man, a pillar of the community. But he quickly becomes the main suspect when his wife, Sarah, goes missing.
What to Read Next
Meet Detective Annie Cassidy, portrayed by Eve Myles (known from Broadchurch and The Guest). In Gone, she’s caught up in a thrilling and relentless search for answers, a real cat-and-mouse game.
The show promises to delve into complex themes beyond the central mystery, focusing on how past trauma, broken trust, and the influence of powerful organizations affect the characters.

Myles is excited to play Detective Annie Cassidy in the new drama Gone, which was written by George Kay. She describes Annie as a smart, brave, and no-nonsense character, but says her opponent, Michael Polly—played by David Morrissey—will give her a real challenge. Myles is also happy to be working with director Richard Laxton and is eager for audiences to watch the show.
The series Gone will feature Emma Appleton (known for The Killing Kind) as Alana, the daughter of Sarah and Michael, who also works as a teacher at their school.
The ITV drama also stars Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham, and Clare Higgins.
George Kay, the creator of the show and previously involved with ITV and New Pictures on The Long Shadow, expressed his excitement about collaborating with them once more for this new police drama.

Kay hinted that the upcoming series Gone will feature a compelling confrontation between Eve Myles’s Detective Annie Cassidy – a character Kay feels hasn’t gotten enough attention – and the prime suspect, Michael Polly, portrayed by David Morrissey.
The story explores themes of advantage and bias, and Annie believes she’s on the verge of discovering a key truth.
Gone will air on ITV and ITVX.
