Brittany Cartwright hits back over Jax Taylor's errors in divorce filing: 'Paperwork is hard for some people'

As a die-hard fan of Vanderpump Rules and a long-time observer of Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor’s tumultuous relationship, I must say that this latest turn of events has left me both shocked and saddened. Having watched their love story unfold on the screen for years, it’s heartbreaking to see them in the midst of a divorce, especially when it seems like they were once so deeply in love.

Brittany Cartwright criticized Jax Taylor for mistakes in his reply to her recent divorce petition, as he apparently didn’t consult any legal professionals.

In a handwritten document, obtained by People, the reality star, 45, mistakenly stated they were not ‘legally married’ and gave an inaccurate timeline of their relationship.

While Cartwright announced their separation on January 24, 2024, privately, Taylor maintains that they didn’t actually split up until September 26, 2024.

Additionally, it appeared as though he mistakenly selected the option “other” on the form used to calculate child support for their son Cruz.

Following fan confusion about Taylor’s errors and inconsistencies, Cartwright chose to clarify the issues on social media.

In a comment on an E! News Instagram post, she stated that they are officially wedded under the law. It seems that filling out paperwork might be challenging for certain individuals.

Lance Bass, who conducted the wedding of the former pair in 2019, also shared that the marriage between Cartwright and Taylor was indeed legal.

‘Pastor Lance signed the papers,’ he wrote.

Taylor’s representative explained to People that any mistakes made by their client will be corrected promptly.

‘Jax and Brittany have settled all custody matters concerning their son Cruz, and will continue to cooperate privately for his wellbeing, which is their top priority,’ stated the representative. ‘Although Jax made mistakes when filling out forms that are typically handled by legal experts, these errors will be swiftly corrected.’

Last month, Taylor, who revealed he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and also post-traumatic stress disorder after a recent mental health facility stay, said her filing was the ‘right decision for their family’ during an episode of his When Reality Hits podcast.

He explained that her actions made sense, and his affection and concern for Brittany will never waver. After all, she is the mother of his precious son, Cruz. This is what he expressed.

He went on to joke that he would ‘make an excellent ex-husband.’

She cited irreconcilable differences as her reason for ending the marriage.

Brittany seeks full legal and physical custody of the child, but she’s willing to allow her ex to have visitation rights.

Furthermore, Cartwright aims to prevent the court from granting either party spousal maintenance.

Cartwright and Taylor, the couple who exchanged vows in an extravagant ceremony featured on Vanderpump Rules, share a three-year-old son named Cruz as their common offspring.

Brittany felt like filing for divorce was a ‘long time coming,’ per People’s source.

The reality star knew ‘she had to’ file for divorce ‘for the best interest of herself and her son.’

According to the source, “The Vanderpump Rules have decided to file [something] as a means to progress and halt the chaotic pattern they’ve been experiencing.

According to the source, there are many events from the past few months that she finds hard to ignore or forget.

The source mentioned that this choice wasn’t taken casually, rather, she is firmly convinced that it was the appropriate course of action.

In simpler terms, we can say that their initial love story was documented in the TV series Vanderpump Rules, while the dissolution of their marriage was portrayed in the spin-off titled The Valley. Moreover, Cartwright shared that she and her son had left their shared home.

Brittany shared in a private moment that a great deal had transpired between her and Jax this past summer. Even with the cameras off, their problems seemed to escalate more and more.

Approximately six weeks ago, I parted ways with Jax. Since then, I’ve been staying at an Airbnb with Cruz as Jax refused to vacate our shared home. This was revealed in the final episode.

Brittany pointed out that Jax not leaving the house demonstrated his self-centeredness. Brittany explained her departure, taking their three-year-old son Cruz along, due to an unhealthy home environment. Brittany also mentioned that Jax often arrived with a hangover and was as mean-tempered in the morning as a snake.

Brittany explained, ‘That’s when I began realizing all the things he had done to me. It was as if a massive weight had suddenly fallen on me.’
