Britney Spears’s mugshot will not be joining the ranks of famous celebrity booking photos.
TMZ reports that after the 44-year-old singer was arrested for driving under the influence last Wednesday, police have chosen not to share their booking photo with the public.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has decided not to release the booking photo because it doesn’t meet the criteria for public disclosure. Releasing it is at their discretion.
Our department generally releases booking photos when someone is arrested for a violent crime, or if they are considered a current danger to the public.
Since the charges against Spears do not meet those criteria, the photo will remain private.
The Daily Mail has contacted both the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and Britney Spears’s team for a statement.
The pop superstar was reportedly ‘extremely emotional’ in jail, sources told TMZ.
According to a 911 call obtained by the Daily Mail, Spears was driving unsafely on the highway when she was stopped and arrested for driving under the influence.
On Wednesday night around 9:30 PM, the pop singer was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County for driving erratically on Highway 101, reportedly changing lanes frequently.
She was released around 6am on Thursday morning.
When police stopped the singer, they found Adderall pills she had bought in Mexico. These pills will be analyzed to determine if they contain only Adderall or if they’ve been mixed with other drugs.
Adderall is a prescription drug mainly used to treat ADHD and a sleep disorder called narcolepsy.
According to a source at TMZ, Britney Spears is reportedly open to following a treatment plan and is even willing to enter a rehabilitation facility.
She has a court hearing set for May 4.
In the 911 call, dispatchers and officers described the chaotic incident in real time.
A dispatcher reported seeing a black car driving dangerously – it was braking suddenly, swerving, and didn’t have a working tail light.
Another officer asked if they could dispatch all units to that location, as colleagues shared information about where the vehicle was.
Police spotted a black 2026 BMW convertible and followed Spears before stopping her vehicle.
The dispatch call began around 8.13pm, with Spears driving in and out of the freeway lanes.
Around 9.13pm, dispatch confirmed: ‘Driver is out of the vehicle.’
Shortly after, officers could be heard talking to Spears, simply stating they were speaking with the driver.
Once Spears was stopped, officers were heard discussing the next steps on the CHP call.
California Highway Patrol officers said she appeared to be under the influence and performed several roadside tests to check her sobriety.
An officer asked for a Drug Recognition Expert – a specialist trained by the California Highway Patrol to determine if a driver is under the influence of drugs.
In the recording, another officer can be heard rushing a Drug Recognition Expert to the location.
After the arrest, a spokesperson for the singer stated that the situation was unacceptable and that Britney will fully cooperate with legal requirements. They expressed hope that this incident marks the beginning of positive changes she needs in her life.
‘Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.
She’ll be getting to spend time with her sons, and her family and friends are finally making a plan to help her thrive and feel better.
Britney Spears shares two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline. They currently live with their father in Hawaii.
Britney Spears was recently seen driving her Mercedes and seemingly using her cell phone while behind the wheel, which is against the law.
On February 12th, paparazzi captured her driving in Los Angeles while seemingly on a phone call. This is against California law, specifically Vehicle Code 23123.5, which prohibits handheld cell phone use while driving.
She was not charged in relation to the incident.
This wasn’t the first time Spears had raised concerns. Recently, she was caught on camera driving erratically, briefly drifting into the wrong lane after an evening out. At the time, people close to her worried she was struggling, especially with her ex-husband Federline releasing his memoir. Spears and Federline were married from 2004 to 2007.
In 2007, she was cited for a minor hit-and-run after accidentally hitting a parked car. Reports from the time indicated the case was dropped after she paid the car owner an undisclosed amount of money.
In 2008, she received a ticket for driving without a valid California license, but a judge later dropped the charge.
In 2023, police went to Britney Spears’s house after a video surfaced showing knives, but no one was charged with any crime.
Spears has had very public personal struggles for nearly two decades.
Oh my gosh, it breaks my heart even thinking about it. Back in 2007, she just started… unraveling. For months, everyone could see she wasn’t okay, and then it all came crashing down. It was awful, and she ended up needing serious help – she was put in psychiatric care, and it was just… a really dark time. I was so worried about her!
Fans grew worried when the 25-year-old celebrity shaved her head and damaged a photographer’s car with an umbrella. Shortly after, she entered a rehabilitation facility.
Britney Spears faced another challenge following her poorly received performance of “Gimme More” at the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, which drew strong criticism from both viewers and professional reviewers.
In January 2008, she was held at a care facility after refusing to let her ex-husband, Federline, take their young son.
Recently, she publicly shared personal struggles with her family. In early February, she posted on social media that she felt ‘scared’ of them and grateful to be safe.
The pop star recently criticized her family, continuing a pattern of conflict that began four years after she gained freedom from a 13-year legal arrangement largely overseen by her father, 73-year-old Jamie Spears.
The singer accused her family of isolating her and refusing to own up to their actions.
The singer shared that they feel fortunate to have survived a difficult family situation and now experiences fear around their family members.
She stated they would never admit their wrongdoing. While people can choose to forgive, she emphasized that it’s important not to forget what happened.
In her recent post, Britney Spears shared that she’s been unable to dance after breaking her toe – not once, but twice. This happened just four months after she suffered a serious leg injury.
Honestly, it’s been heartbreaking watching Britney’s struggles with her family for years. Ever since that awful 13-year conservatorship finally ended in November 2021, it’s become so clear how much pain they’ve caused her. It’s just… a really tough situation, and I’m rooting for her to finally have peace.
After the conservatorship began in 2008, Britney’s father, Jamie, was first a co-conservator, working with attorney Andrew Wallet until 2019.
The conservatorship was put in place following concerns for her mental health.
During the Christmas holiday, Britney Spears publicly expressed strong disapproval, apparently aimed at her family. This came after her sister, Jamie Lynn, shared a photo online featuring Britney’s eldest son, Sean.
