Britney Spears’ Iconic Astronaut Lover Now Saving Lives as a Top Trauma Surgeon

The woman portraying Britney Spears‘ space-faring love interest in the music video for “Oops!… I Did It Again” has experienced an unexpected change in profession.

Eli Swanson, age 49, gained widespread recognition from a video that came out 25 years ago, specifically in April 2000.

After that point, he has been dedicatedly chasing his interest in medicine and at present, he works as an orthopedic trauma surgeon situated in Arizona, according to his LinkedIn profile.

When Swanson walked onto the music video set (with almost 500 million views on YouTube), he was 24 years old, while the singer was just 18 at that moment.

In a NASA astronaut role while exploring Mars, Eli stumbled upon a photo of Spears. Suddenly, the famous pop star materialized, wearing her signature red jumpsuit, to deliver an energetic performance of one of her catchy songs.

In the finale, the astronaut gifted Britney the Heart of the Ocean necklace, a piece famously shown in the critically acclaimed movie Titanic.

At first, Eli didn’t realize that he would be collaborating with Spears when he tried out for the role in the music video.

During a recent chat with People, Swanson shared that the following day he got the call time and specifics. Upon arriving, he learned what the project entailed, which was quite thrilling for him.

The doctor had nothing but positive words for Spears and the experience he had while on set.

Upon our initial encounter, she struck me as quite amiable. Accompanying her were her petite canine companion and her mother.

Swanson expressed enthusiasm about meeting her, noting that she was incredibly kind and down-to-earth. He continued his praise to the media outlet.

During the shooting of a particular scene, it occurred to him that an camera component had dropped and struck the singer on the head.

However, Eli clarified that the performer handled the situation with grace, remaining composed. He also mentioned that there seemed to be a minor cut on her head, but it didn’t appear too severe.

When the music video was released, Swanson remembered people recognizing him on the subway during his visit to Paris.

The situation was quite amusing since it happened from a great distance, and strangely enough, that video featuring the man in the red jumpsuit has become almost legendary. Many folks recall that particular video.

His background in the entertainment world has carried over into his present occupation in the medical sector as well.

Eli humorously shared that it’s amusing because there have been occasions when I perform my initial surgery, and someone would start playing a video or a song as I enter the room.

Although Swanson savored his moments before the camera, his ultimate goal was to delve into his fervor for medicine.

He eventually was accepted and studied at Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons.

‘Being a surgeon is my calling. It’s what I was supposed to do. I think it was the right decision.’

According to his official LinkedIn page, Swanson worked as a MD for District Medical Group.

Over time, I’ve had a handful of encounters with Spears – for instance, I recall running into her at a trendy nightspot and recognizing each other.

Speaking about his past collaboration with the Pop Princess, Eli stated, “I feel thankful and honored to have taken part in it.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve come across exclusive backstage images from the “Oops!…I Did It Again” video, shared by People magazine. In these shots, you can find me taking a moment to capture memorable snaps while clad in an authentic NASA spacesuit.

A different photo captured Eli and Britney, both grinning widely at the camera, standing quite near to each other.

The music video was helmed by Nigel Dick, a director who’s collaborated with Britney before, notably on the set of “Baby One More Time.”

Nigel Dick, who has worked with Britney previously, such as during the filming of “Baby One More Time,” directed the music video.

Back in 2000, I had the pleasure of adding a captivating pop tune to my personal collection, hailing from the second studio album bearing the same title as the star who graced us with it. This timeless gem was unveiled to the world in the heart of May that year.

About five years ago, Britney too marked the 20th anniversary of the LP’s release on Instagram.

She wrote, “Before its release, I experienced wild excitement and fluttery feelings akin to butterflies… it surpassed all my expectations.

It’s all thanks to your support…thank you for standing by me and growing together with me. I feel incredibly fortunate. God Bless each and every one of you! By the way, even 20 years ago, I used to enjoy twirling around.
