Britney Spears ‘could get jail time if pills found in her car are tested positive for a narcotic’

Britney Spears was arrested for a DUI in Westlake Village, California this week.

TMZ reports that pills were discovered in her vehicle and are being analyzed to determine if they contain any illegal drugs.

The report also stated that if the test confirms the substance is a narcotic, the singer could face jail time.

Daily Mail has reached out to Spears’ representatives for comment.

If you’re caught with drugs, particularly while driving, you could face charges for both possessing drugs and driving under the influence of drugs (DUID). The Kann California Law Group reports that penalties for these offenses can include 48 hours to over a year in jail, significant fines, and a suspended driver’s license.

Okay, so here’s the latest on Britney – and it’s looking a bit brighter. From what I’m hearing from legal sources, since drugs aren’t involved in this situation, she’s unlikely to face any actual jail time. It’s a relief to know that’s off the table, and hopefully she’ll get the support she needs.

According to entertainment and trial attorney Tre Lovell, the police appeared to have acted correctly when they pulled over and arrested the driver. Lovell explained to Daily Mail that if the driver was swerving and failed field sobriety tests, it justifies the police’s actions.

Unless there’s an accident causing damage, excessively speeding, or a very high blood alcohol level, Britney Spears is unlikely to go to jail.

We’re still waiting on the lab results to confirm if she was driving under the influence. However, Lovell stated that if she was, and this is her first DUI offense, it’s unlikely she would be sentenced to jail time.

Okay, so here’s the likely scenario: if convicted, my sources tell me she’s probably looking at probation, a fine, and a mandatory DUI education course. The biggest worry, though, is her driver’s license. It could be suspended, but she might be able to avoid that if she can successfully appeal to the DMV and convince them to let her keep it – it really depends on what happens at that hearing.

If she successfully finishes probation, completes required classes, and pays all fines, her criminal record may be cleared.

Investigators will review the circumstances of her stop and arrest to determine if the police had a valid reason to detain and then arrest her. This review will influence whether charges are filed, and if so, what those charges will be.

The Daily Mail reported that police identified the vehicle as a 2026 black BMW convertible.

A 911 dispatch recording revealed that officers described what was happening as they followed the vehicle on the highway.

One dispatcher said: ‘A black sedan, erratic braking, swerving and driving with no tail light.’

An officer requested that all units head towards the location, as information about the car’s position was shared over the radio.

Dispatchers later confirmed the vehicle’s details before officers approached the driver.

Around 9.13pm, a dispatcher stated: ‘Driver is out of the vehicle.’

An officer added shortly afterwards: ‘Talking with the driver.’

After the vehicle was stopped, the officers talked about what to do next. This included asking for a Drug Recognition Expert – someone specifically trained by the California Highway Patrol to determine if a driver is under the influence of drugs.

From what I understand from the recording, another officer was really focused on getting me to the scene as quickly as possible – they knew my expertise could be valuable right away. It sounds like they were prioritizing getting me there to help assess the situation.

Soon after the 911 call audio was released, TMZ reported that police supposedly found an unidentified substance in the car and it would be mentioned in the official arrest report.

Following her arrest for suspected drunk driving, a representative for Britney Spears has stated that the singer requires ‘help and support’.

The 44-year-old singer was arrested by the California Highway Patrol around 9:30 PM on Wednesday in Ventura County. She was suspected of driving under the influence and was officially booked into custody around 3:00 AM on Thursday, then released about three hours later.

Immediately following the announcement of her arrest, the star’s spokesperson told the Daily Mail that the situation was regrettable and completely unacceptable.

Britney is planning to follow the legal process, and we hope this marks the beginning of the positive changes she needs and deserves in her life.

‘Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.’

Britney’s representative said her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, will be spending time with her. They are also working on a plan with her family and friends to support her well-being, something that has been needed for a while.

Ventura County sheriff records show Britney is scheduled to appear in court on 4 May.

Spears has not publicly commented on the arrest.
