A breast cancer diagnosis in May last year turned her world upside down.
Kate Tickle, a former model, is enjoying a remarkable change of luck – she’s landed her first acting role in Hollywood. The 42-year-old was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer last year, but is now cancer-free.
The actress, originally from the Lake District, recently shared her inspiring thoughts with The Mail on Sunday after landing a role playing fashion icon Giorgio Armani in an upcoming film. She said that it’s never too late to pursue your dreams and a medical diagnosis shouldn’t stop you from living your life.
The mother of four explained that she discovered she had a lump after a very realistic dream. She felt it so strongly in the dream that she went to the doctor to get it checked.
Doctors didn’t find anything during a physical exam, but a mammogram revealed an issue.
Ms. Tickle finished chemotherapy in November, and just six months later, in June, she received wonderful news: she’d been cast in her first big film, Armani: The King of Fashion.
She will play a personal assistant of Armani, who died from liver failure in September, aged 91.
Although Sally Tickle has experience as a body double for Uma Thurman and worked as an assistant to director Michael Winner, this marks her first time being involved in a Hollywood film project. The movie is being produced by Andrea Iervolino, an Italian producer and a friend of Sally’s husband, David Tickle, who is 66 and a music producer.
Ms Tickle, who once dated Gary Lineker, said she had Mr Iervolino to thank for the role.
She explained that after sharing her story and her desire to motivate her four sons and others facing comparable challenges, Andrea was eager to help bring her vision to life.
Ms Tickle said she was sharing her story in case it helps others.
As someone who’s navigated challenging times, my biggest hope is that anyone facing a difficult diagnosis, like cancer, or any major life upheaval, remembers this: there is life after treatment, and joy is possible even after fear takes hold. You are far more resilient than you think, and holding onto that belief is key. I truly believe in the power of hope and inner strength.
Never give up on your dreams. While cancer can impact what’s happened in your life, it shouldn’t steal your hope for what could be.
