Britain’s Most Unlucky Celebrities in Love: The Wildest Romantic Histories Revealed!

The romantic lives of wealthy celebrities like Katie Price and Kevin Clifton often involve intricate relationships, as evidenced by Katie’s eight engagements and Kevin’s history of marrying his dancing partners.

The renowned American actress, Dame Elizabeth Taylor, went through the process of marriage and divorce a staggering eight times. Eventually, she decided to forego wedlock and lived out her life until her passing in 2011 at the age of 79.

However, several well-known British actors might challenge the Hollywood icon in terms of portraying unsuccessful romances convincingly.

Just a few days ago, Kym Marsh, both a singer and a well-known actor on the show “Corrie,” shared that she and her younger boyfriend, Samuel Thomas, had parted ways. Their relationship, which began with great enthusiasm six months prior, was unexpectedly ending, despite her previously referring to him as her ‘soulmate.’

If their relationship had endured, Kym wouldn’t have lacked ideas for a beautiful wedding, given she has previously been engaged five times and married thrice.

Celebrity Katie has experienced a tumultuous journey in love, as only three of her eight proposed relationships led to marriage. Similarly, Patsy Kensit shared that out of her four marital attempts, only two were genuine. So who are the British stars seemingly cursed in love? TopMob delves into the lives of celebrities whose numerous romances have failed – and updates on their current statuses.

Katie Price

At present, Katie Price is romantically involved with “Married at First Sight UK” star JJ Slater. Last year, speculations about their engagement arose when Katie was seen donning a diamond ring.

Recently, he has joined the list of Katie’s former partners, following her initial engagement to Warren Furman, popularly recognized as Ace on TV when he was 18 years old. However, their relationship didn’t last long after that.

In the year 1998, Katie and well-known singer Dane Bowers from Another Level were romantically involved for approximately two years. They gained notoriety for creating a private video together that was later shared publicly. Five years later, at a Christmas gathering, she expressed to many people that Dane was her “one true love”.

About a year following her separation from Dane, Katie and ex-Premier League soccer player Dwight Yorke experienced a brief romantic relationship. However, their relationship did not last long as Katie became pregnant with her firstborn son, Harvey, who is now 21 years old.

Initially, Dwight refused to accept that he was the father of Harvey, Katie’s child who has autism, partial blindness, and Prader-Willi Syndrome, but a DNA test later confirmed their paternity.

Later on, Katie became involved romantically with Gareth Gates following his rise to stardom on Pop Idol. Initially, he dismissed speculations about their relationship after they started dating in 2002. The pop singer was only 17 when he lost his virginity to Katie, who was then 21. Later on, she stated: ‘I took his virginity when I was six months pregnant with him.’

In 2002, she began a relationship with Scott Sullivan that lasted for two years and culminated in an engagement. However, their relationship imploded dramatically when she started a romantic entanglement during her stint on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!, while still engaged to Peter Andre, who is now her ex-husband.

In a well-known turn of events, she deeply and passionately fell for Peter, aged 48, during I’m A Celeb, and the two eventually tied the knot at Highclere Castle in September 2005. They welcomed two children, their son Junior, now 19 years old, and daughter Princess, who is 17. Regrettably, they parted ways in 2009.

2009 marked a turning point in my life when the news of my beloved couple’s separation hit me hard. It all started unraveling when Katie, my cherished idol, was spotted at Badminton Horse Trials with the esteemed international dressage rider, Andrew Gould, and his wife Polly.

In 2010, I crossed paths with the cage fighter, Alex, at Michelle Heaton’s glamorous thirty-year-old bash. Over the subsequent two years, our relationship proved to be quite a rollercoaster ride.

Following a dramatic public breakup, the couple made up and traveled to Las Vegas to get married in February 2010, only seven months into their relationship. Yet, less than a year later, they declared that they were separating after just eleven months of marriage.

In the year 2011, Katie started dating Argentine model Leandro Penna following an encounter at Elton John’s Oscar party in Los Angeles. They declared their engagement in April 2012, but unfortunately, they parted ways only half a year afterwards.

About a year later, Katie encountered Kieran Hayler, a man who works both as a part-time stripper and plasterer, and he being nine years younger than her. The two of them eventually had a daughter named Bunny and a son called Jett.

Kieran made a proposal on Christmas Day, 2012, and they quickly exchanged vows on the Bahamian coastline a few weeks later. Yet, Katie found out about Kieran’s infidelities with friends Jane Poutney and Chrissy Thomas. Despite this, she seemed committed to saving the relationship, and they renewed their vows in 2015. Regrettably, the tumultuous romance ended in 2018 under further accusations of unfaithfulness.

Later on, Katie had an on-and-off relationship with Kris Boyson for over a year. Her children allegedly started calling him ‘dad’. At one point, Kris even proposed to Katie, but their romance didn’t last and they split up in August 2019. Katie confessed to Kris that she had been unfaithful during their relationship.

Next in the spotlight was her tumultuous relationship with Carl Woods, which progressed from a rollercoaster 10-month courtship to an engagement.

Or:

After a rapid 10-month courtship, her stormy relationship with Carl Woods culminated in their decision to get engaged.

Both sentences convey the same meaning as the original while using more natural and easy-to-read language.

However, it was revealed that Carl and Katie parted ways in November 2022 after she confessed to an indiscretion with another person. Their relationship was revived in July 2023, only to end again in November of the same year.

She has also been linked to Danny Cipriani and Charles Drury.

Kym Marsh

This week, it became known that Kym Marsh allegedly broke up with her partner Samuel Thomas following a fast-paced, six-month relationship.

19-years-older Kym broke up with the actor, who was a performer in “101 Dalmatians: The Musical”, prior to Christmas, following the completion of their tour together.

Prior to gaining widespread recognition, Kym had her first encounter with David, a local contractor, at a karaoke bar in Garswood, Lancashire, during one of their evenings out. They quickly grew close and eventually got engaged. Over the years, they had two children, David (age 29) and Emilie (age 27). Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 1999, just before Kym’s rise to fame as a contestant on the television talent show Popstars.

2 years passed, a romantic connection grew during a shared cup of tea and biscuits following Kym’s encounter with EastEnders actor Jack Ryder in the BBC cafeteria. They serendipitously met when she was performing on Top Of The Pops alongside pop group Hear’Say.

In August 2002, the couple tied the knot at St. Albans parish church in Hertford. However, by 2009, their marriage had ended, as Jack initiated divorce proceedings, citing adultery as the reason. This came after reports of an affair with Jamie Lomas, who was presumably set to be her second husband.

At first, friends were concerned that Kym might have hastily entered into a relationship with Jamie, given that they started dating only four months after she separated from her husband Jack. However, it was actually during the TV Quick Awards in 2007 when they first crossed paths on a train, and their romance didn’t blossom until July 2008 – an entire year before Kym finalized her divorce.

In just under two months, they were a couple, and then Kym discovered she was carrying their first baby. Heartbreakingly, their prematurely-born son, Archie Jay, passed away shortly after birth on February 11, at the 18-week mark.

In March 2011, their day brightened as they welcomed a new member, daughter Polly, and later, in September 2012, they tied the knot. However, their union didn’t last long, ending by 2014. Kym was reportedly taken aback when Jamie chose to end things.

In 2013, just one year prior to Jamie’s divorce, Kym was involved in a five-month romantic affair with her Coronation Street co-star, Oliver Mellor. Later on, Oliver stated that he ended the relationship with the actress because he believed she would never leave her partner from Hollyoaks.

Later in April 2014, Kym started seeing fitness instructor Dan Hooper. By the end of that year in December, they announced their engagement. However, in May 2015, Kym decided to end their engagement.

In 2019, she encountered her third spouse, Scott, who served in the British military. He popped the question on her birthday in 2021, and they got married that very year. Regrettably, news of their separation became public knowledge in May 2023.

Kerry Katona

Kerry Katona recently had a clandestine relationship with renowned chef Jameson Stocks, but ended it on the same day as The Vivienne’s funeral; he claimed they had talked about marriage.

However, prior to being Kerry’s fiancé for six years, Ryan was the one who held that position. They parted ways in November, allegedly causing Kerry great distress.

In the year 1999, Kerry got married to Brian McFadden, who was then well-known, after their bands, Atomic Kitten and Westlife, had a tour together. They became parents to Molly Marie in 2001, followed by a grand celebrity wedding in 2002. In 2003, they added another daughter, Lily-Sue, to their family.

Unfortunately, destiny had other plans, as in 2004, the pair publicly declared their split, following claims that Brian was unfaithful to Kerry with a dancer at a nightclub.

Or, more casually:
Unfortunately for them, things didn’t work out in 2004 when it was revealed Brian had been untrue to Kerry with a lapdancer.

Both versions convey the same meaning but are phrased slightly differently for variety and readability.

2005 saw Kerry marry taxi driver Mark Croft, but the union only lasted until 2010. During this period, Kerry faced challenging times as her wealth decreased to bankruptcy, she admitted to struggling with cocaine addiction, and her ex-husband later confessed to draining Kerry financially. The couple had two children together – daughter Heidi and son Maxwell – during their marriage.

Kerry’s last significant relationship prior to Ryan was with her former husband, George Kay, whom she met when he was her chauffeur in 2012. They became engaged a year later atop Blackpool Tower and soon after had their daughter Dylan-Jorge. They got married in 2014 shortly after the birth of their child.

Following a tumultuous union marked by whispers of domestic abuse and allegations, they ended their marriage in 2017. Sadly, George lost his life due to an overdose of cocaine just two years after the divorce.

Over the course of several years, Kerry has been associated with a variety of individuals including Scottish comedian James English, contestant from Take Me Out Dan Foden, artist Steve Alce, DJ Dan Corsi, childhood sweetheart Dave Cunningham, and actor Lucien Laviscount whom she met on Celebrity Big Brother.

Kerry is the mother of five children: Molly (age 23) and Lilly (age 22), who she shares with Westlife star Brian; Heidi (age 17) and Max (age 16), from her marriage to Mark; and Dylan-Jorge, age 10, whom she had with George.

Natasha Hamilton

Natasha Hamilton, a member of Atomic Kitten, is the mother of five children: Josh, who was born to her and her former bodyguard Fran Cosgrave; Harry, born to her and actor Gavin Hatcher; Alfie, born from her relationship with ex-husband Riad Erraji; and Ella, whom she had with boyband star Ritchie Neville.

More recently, in 2023, they had a daughter named Kitty, following their wedding two years prior, with her husband Charles Gray.

In early 2016, Natasha started going out with Charles, and later on, in November of the same year, they made their engagement public. Finally, they got married in a beautiful wedding held at Lake Como in 2021.

In February 2018, rumors of a split between the singer and Charles swirled when she removed him from her personal Facebook account and stopped following him across all her public social media platforms. Yet, only two months later, she put those breakup rumors to rest by sharing a photo of them in bed with the caption: “Love overcomes everything.

From 2001 to 2002, her initial notable romance was with Fran Cosgrave, formerly a bodyguard for Westlife who later became a reality TV personality. Together, they had a child named Josh.

In the year 2003, she started a journey with professional dancer Gavin Hatcher and welcomed their second child, Harry, into the world on New Year’s Eve of 2004.

Initially, Natasha took a short break from her relationship with Gavin to reconnect with an old flame, Fran. However, later in February 2005, she found herself back with a dancer whom she remained with until February 2006.

In late that year, she encountered restaurant owner Riad Erraji and the two subsequently got married in 2007 at Crewe Hall Hotel. Unfortunately, in January 2008, Natasha found out she was pregnant with her third child, but regrettably suffered a miscarriage after six weeks.

2010 brought joyous times for Natasha and Riad as they became parents to their son, Alfie. Regrettably, by 2013, their union came to an end.

Before she married Charles, her previous significant other was 5ive Star Richard Neville. They initially crossed paths during the early stages of their respective careers and later rekindled their relationship on ITV2’s The Big Reunion in 2013.

In September 2014, their fourth child, Ella Rose, was born to the ex-partners. They got engaged in 2016, but unfortunately separated only five months after that.

Ulrika Jonsson

Since her 2019 divorce from her third husband Brian Monet, Ulrika has remained unmarried. Together they have a son named Malcolm. Their separation followed nearly a decade of being together.

Ulrika Jonsson tied the knot with cameraman John Turnbull back in 1990, and together they share a son named Cameron. Their union ended in 1995.

Following the separation, she embarked on a romantic relationship with James Crossley, who played Gladiator, that lasted for a year. This occurred when she was 29 years old, and he was 23.

After her marriage ended, Ulrika was romantically involved with footballer Stan Collymore. In 1998, Stan publicly apologized for his violent behavior towards the Swedish-British television host, and as a result, their relationship came to an end.

After a short while, she started a relationship with a German hotel manager named Marcus Kempen. They eventually had a daughter, Bo, in 2000; but unfortunately, their relationship didn’t last long, ending soon after their child’s birth.

2002 saw Ulrika embroiled in a whirlwind of media speculation over allegations of an affair with Sven-Göran Eriksson. It was later revealed that he had a long-term partner, and Ulrika eventually acknowledged the rumors to be true.

In the year 2003, the presenter got married for the second time to Lance Gerrard-Wright, who happened to be a contestant on her television series “Mr Right” at that time. They were blessed with a daughter named Martha in 2004, but their marriage didn’t last long and they divorced two years afterwards.

In March 2008, Ulrika tied the knot with her third spouse, advertising executive Brian from America. They welcomed their son Malcolm later that year. Despite numerous attempts at counseling to mend their strained relationships throughout the years, they ultimately parted ways in 2019 through a divorce.

Patsy Kensit

Actress Patsy Kensit’s most famous marriage was of course to Oasis star Liam Gallagher.

However, prior to becoming Liam Gallagher, the member of the ’80s band Big Audio Dynamite, whom Patsy married in 1988 at the age of 22.

In 1991, they parted ways, and by the next year, Patsy tied the knot with the lead singer of Simple Minds, Jim Kerr. They had their first child, James, shortly after, but unfortunately, they separated in 1996.

1995 saw rumors swirling that Patsy had a romantic involvement with soccer player Ryan Giggs, as she reportedly approached him deliberately at a movie premiere event.

1997 saw Patsy taking her walk down the aisle for a second time when she married singer Liam at Marylebone Town Hall. Their union brought forth a child named Lennon, inspired by The Beatles’ John Lennon. However, they parted ways in 2000.

In the year 2000, I found myself making tabloid headlines due to my romantic involvement with the renowned Scottish footballer, Ally McCoist. Our friendship spanned a decade prior to this unexpected turn of events. Notably, this relationship was brought up during his divorce proceedings from his first spouse.

After spending more than a year in a short-lived relationship with the ‘human beatbox’ Killa Kela, she eventually parted ways, citing to her friends that their shared interests had diminished significantly.

Following her breakup with Killa, Patsy became engaged to longtime friend DJ Jeremy Healy in 2007. They had been friends since the 1980s. Regrettably, they decided to cancel their wedding shortly after their engagement.

In April 2009, Patsy and Jeremy made up and got married, but by February 2010, their relationship had come to an end permanently.

In 2023, the actress publicly declared her rapid-pace engagement to real estate magnate Patric Cassidy. This unexpected turn of events occurred just a few weeks following their initial dinner together.

In Mayfair’s Scott’s seafood restaurant, Patric made his proposal to the ex-star of Holby City in May. To celebrate, he bought champagne for other diners. However, at a charity event in June 2024, reports say that Patric caused Patsy visible distress when he took her diamond engagement ring from her during an argument. Shortly after this incident, their separation was confirmed.

Kevin Clifton

Known as a skilled ballroom dancer, Kevin Clifton found himself in the middle of a media frenzy dubbed the “Strictly Curse,” when he began dating his current spouse, Stacey Dooley, during their time together on the program.

However, it’s noteworthy that he often develops romantic feelings for his dancing partners, as exemplified by his marriage to Latin world champion Anna Melnikova at the age of 20 in 2003.

Despite the brief duration of their romantic relationship, Kevin later revealed that their marriage ended because he lost interest in dancing, no longer feeling love for it.

His next relationship was again with a dancer, but not one who was his partner on the dancefloor.

In 2007, he started seeing ballet dancer Clare Craze, whom he met at a salsa bar in London. After only eight weeks of dating, they decided to live together, and after just six months, he proposed. However, it’s said that Kevin didn’t inform Claire about his previous marriage.

Claire and Kevin exchanged vows at St Mary’s Church in the town of Wivenhoe, which was Claire’s birthplace, a location where he reportedly delivered a speech that he had previously used during his wedding to his third spouse, dancer Karen Hauer.

In New York, the couple found themselves in the same cast for the stage production titled “Burn The Floor.” However, Claire had a hard time watching her spouse perform intimate dances with other women, leading her to seek hypnotherapy to manage her growing jealousy. Interestingly, Karen, who later became his third wife, was also part of the show’s cast.

Upon his return to London, Kevin headed instead for Grimsby, explaining he was recuperating from bronchitis. However, upon his return, he ended things with Claire.

Not long after parting ways, he started dating Karen and eventually popped the question on stage. They tied the knot in 2015, but ended their marriage after three years – which was also when he encountered his present girlfriend, Stacey.

During her seven-year relationship outside of “Strictly,” Stacey was paired with Kevin, a partnership that ended in victory. However, four months after their win, the couple separated, and Stacey’s former partner claimed to have discovered affectionate texts from Kevin on her phone.

2023 saw the arrival of little Minnie, a bundle of joy that both Stacey and Kevin, two ardent fans like myself might say, were overjoyed to welcome into their lives. They’ve always maintained a clear boundary between their relationships, ensuring a harmonious bond for Minnie to grow up in.

Brian McFadden

In the peak of their pop music career, Westlife member Brian and Kerry Katona, an original member of Atomic Kitten, were involved in a well-known romantic relationship that lasted for about four years. During this time, they welcomed two daughters, Molly and Lilly-Sue, into their family.

Kerry left the band when she became pregnant with their first child, and they got married in January 2002.

Two years after our commitment, I found myself facing an unfortunate turn of events – the announcement that we were to part ways through divorce. What followed was a prolonged, contentious legal battle over our children’s custody, which stretched on for several years. It wasn’t until 2006 that the divorce proceedings were officially concluded.

2004 saw Brian, amidst his custody dispute with Kerry, starting a romantic involvement with Australian vocalist Delta Goodrem. Together they produced the duet “Almost Here.” Their engagement was on, but they parted ways in 2011.

Exactly a year after, the singer got married to Irish model Vogue Williams, in an extravagant ceremony held in Italy’s Tuscany region, during September 2012.

Despite the fact that they declared their separation back in 2015 on Twitter, and their divorce was officially completed in 2017, Vogue subsequently married Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews.

Back in December 2019, Brian made an announcement that he had gotten engaged for the third time, this time to PE instructor Danielle Parkinson. After dating for three years, they became parents to a beautiful daughter in May 2021 and have plans to tie the knot this coming summer.
