The lineup for the eighth season of the BBC series Pilgrimage has been announced, featuring stars from shows like Britain’s Got Talent and Spooks. The program follows a group of celebrities with diverse religious and personal beliefs as they journey together along a shared path.
This season, called The Road to Holy Island, follows new cast members as they travel through North East England. They’ll visit places like Whitby Abbey and Durham Cathedral, ultimately reaching the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, and experience the natural beauty and landscapes that influenced the beginnings of Celtic Christianity.
The upcoming three-part series will feature Ashley Banjo, known from Britain’s Got Talent and a practicing Christian, and Hermione Norris, who starred in Spooks and holds spiritual beliefs centered on the divinity of nature.

I’m so excited about the new cast! It’s really interesting – we’ve got Tasha Ghouri from Love Island who doesn’t believe in God, the hilarious Hasan Al-Habib who’s a devout Muslim, and Jayne Middlemiss, the radio presenter, who’s all about spirituality. Then there’s comedian Ashley Blaker, who used to be Orthodox Jewish but doesn’t practice now, and of course, Patsy Kensit from EastEnders, who’s Catholic. It’s such a diverse group, I can’t wait to see how their beliefs play out!
Ashley explained to the BBC that as a Christian, she undertook the pilgrimage hoping to deepen her spiritual understanding through conversation and the exchange of questions about faith.

I’m also really looking forward to the hike itself! For me, this pilgrimage is about exploring my faith and connecting with others who share it, but also about disconnecting from everyday life and enjoying an incredible walk.
Hermione explained that being so busy normally doesn’t allow her time for reflection, but this journey gives her a valuable chance to walk, think, and truly observe the world around her. She considers it a special and unusual opportunity.
Since it began in 2018, the show Pilgrimage has featured a variety of well-known faces, including Harry Clark from The Traitors, TV host Jeff Brazier, reality TV personality Vicky Pattison, actress Rita Simons (known from EastEnders), documentarian Nelufar Hedayat, and former Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt.
The eighth season of Pilgrimage begins on Sunday, April 5th at 10pm on BBC Two, with new episodes airing the following two nights. You can also watch it anytime on BBC iPlayer.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a vibrant, full-color 100-page magazine dedicated to Harry Styles, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
