Katie Bates has spoken out about the hurt she experienced after discovering her husband, Travis Clark, was unfaithful. She shared her feelings for the first time since the affair came to light.
I was really shocked to hear that Clark, only 24, admitted to cheating on his wife just yesterday. It felt especially insensitive considering Bates had just shared the heartbreaking news of her losing a pregnancy. The timing just seemed awful, honestly.
The 25-year-old star of Bringing Up Bates has spoken out about the cheating on her Instagram, stating she is receiving legal support.
In a post shared on Monday, she said she wants to save her marriage and asked for understanding, explaining she might not be able to reply to advice or opinions, even if they’re meant to be helpful.
She started her post by saying this wasn’t the start to the year, or this new chapter in their lives, that she’d hoped for.
This has been a very difficult time for both me and my family. As you may know, my marriage has suffered, and my trust has been broken. I’m currently focusing on healing and prioritizing what’s most important: our children and their future.
I’m incredibly grateful for all the love, prayers, and support I’ve received. Thank you to everyone who has been in touch – your kindness means the world to me.
Travis shared with me that he deeply regrets his actions and wants to publicly take responsibility for them. I support his honesty and willingness to be transparent.
We’re dealing with this situation privately, getting advice both as a couple and on our own to figure out the best way to move forward as a family. I’m also receiving legal guidance.
Let me tell you, making big life changes isn’t something I approach casually. I’m really giving everything a lot of thought, because my family – especially my kids – are my top priority. Every decision we make about our future will be deliberate and carefully considered, not rushed at all. I want to be sure we’re doing what’s truly best for all of us.
Look, I truly believe things can be fixed – I have so much faith, and especially in God’s power to help us get back on track. Saving my marriage is everything to me. This is incredibly private, and we’re still trying to figure things out, so please, I need some space. It’s hard to ask, but I probably won’t be able to take advice right now, even if it’s meant to be helpful. I just need to focus on us and what we’re going through.
Okay, so social media is… part of what I have to do. Honestly, I’ve been putting it off as long as humanly possible, but I made promises I can’t just break. It’s just… things are tough right now, and I’m trying to navigate it all. I really appreciate everyone being so kind and understanding, it means the world to me that you’re all being so patient.

Clark, 24, publicly admitted to cheating on his wife in a statement he shared on Instagram over the weekend. He said he had broken her trust multiple times.
The admission was made shortly after Bates revealed she had suffered a devastating pregnancy loss.
Clark apologized to Bates, 25, for the hurt, embarrassment, and disappointment he caused, and admitted he was completely at fault.
Clark started his long statement by saying it was difficult to write, but he felt obligated to tell the truth and offer an apology.
I just saw it, I’m still reeling… he actually said it on his Story! Right there, plain as day, he confessed. He admitted he cheated on his wife, that he had an affair, and that he kept betraying her trust. I can’t believe he was so open about it… it’s devastating, but I needed to know the truth, even if it hurts. I’m obsessed with everything about him, and this… this is a lot to process.
He acknowledged his wrongdoing, stating he takes full responsibility and there’s no justification for his actions. He emphasized that the failure was entirely his own.
Honestly, words feel inadequate to describe the pain I’ve inflicted and the hurt I’ve caused her, but I want her to know I am deeply and sincerely sorry. It’s a hard thing to admit, but taking responsibility is the first step, and I truly mean it.
He expressed deep regret for the hurt, embarrassment, and breach of trust he inflicted on his wife because of his actions. He acknowledged that simply saying sorry wasn’t enough to fix things, and he knew he hadn’t earned her forgiveness, nor would he ask for it.
He stated he’s taking steps to improve himself, seeking help and actively working to be more honest and accountable, no matter what happens.
He ended his message by asking fans to respect Katie’s privacy and give her space to deal with the situation at her own pace.
Honestly, I’m reeling! I can’t even imagine how they’re doing right now after all this came out. And it’s killing me that Bates hasn’t said anything about it yet! I’m glued to every source, desperate for some kind of explanation or, honestly, just something from him. It’s so frustrating!
The revelation came a day after Clark’s wife revealed her heartbreaking pregnancy loss.
A touching video showed her joyful reaction to discovering she was pregnant and sharing the news with her family, followed by the heartbreaking loss of the pregnancy.
She shared a tearful post expressing her lifelong grief over the loss, writing, ‘I will spend the rest of my life missing you.’
During the Instagram video, she was in a hospital bed, visibly upset and tearful, as she revealed she had just experienced a miscarriage.
The video started with Bates revealing a positive pregnancy test, and then she bought a baby onesie. She then surprised her husband by telling him they were going to have a baby.
The couple already have two children: a daughter named Hailey, who will be three years old in February, and a one-year-old son named Harvey.
The video featured a voiceover saying, ‘I’ll spend my life questioning why this happened, and I doubt I’ll ever have an answer. Even if I received a direct explanation from God, I still wouldn’t be able to accept it.’
Love can be incredibly difficult, and deep love often brings intense pain. The loss of love is the most painful experience of all. If love alone could have kept you alive, you would never have died.
Bates and Clark welcomed their first child, daughter Hailey James, in February 2023.
Their son Harvey Gray followed in September 2024.
