Brighton star Jayden admits he was shocked by Tekkz’s early eChampions League exit
Xpsp sat down with Brighton and Hove Albion EA SPORTS FC player Jayden in Manchester.
Jayden “Jayden” Groden kicked off his eChampions League journey impressively, progressing straight to the final 16 from the league phase of the tournament. Playing for Brighton, Jayden came very close but fell short by two years in securing the ePremier League championship. Compared to last year’s eChampions League performance, where he found it challenging to make a mark, this year, he is already in a much stronger position.
Prior to his debut in the Knockout Stage, Xpsp engaged in a conversation with the resident of Brighton. At this point, Jayden is keeping his fingers crossed to learn the identity of his potential adversary in the round of 16.
Jayden will be watching his opponents closely
Due to placing among the top eight during the League Phase, Jayden spends his morning observing and anticipating his upcoming competitor. His next match is against the victor of the contest between Ilian and Bradley.
To be truthful, who is involved isn’t my primary focus. What truly excites me is the prospect of diving into that game. Both participants are exceptional, and I can hardly wait. Watching their performances seems crucial as it could potentially provide me with a competitive advantage when our turn comes.
Just like in traditional football, who an FC Pro faces determines their approach to the match.
I always follow a strategy, and there are specific actions I take regularly based on the opponent’s moves. For instance, if they attack with their full back, I counterattack on that side. However, every opponent defends and attacks persistently, so it’s essential to make some adjustments. Generally, I strive to maintain consistency while being flexible enough to adapt slightly as needed.
“Feeling cold” not a worry despite advancing an extra round
In contrast to the usual Champions League format where matches are sandwiched between a team’s domestic season, Jayden’s progress beyond the round of 32 signifies that his next opponent will have just played a game, while he has had a day off. Yet, the concern about feeling rusty doesn’t seem to trouble the Brighton player.
In my opinion, the fast-paced format with swift game transitions has been fantastic. I don’t believe there’s anyone who would complain about feeling cold because the longest wait is only two rounds. Compared to last year where I had to wait four hours for a game, this year it feels significantly improved. The new format is truly remarkable.
Does skipping a match today concern you? Not particularly, since in the E-Premier League, even if you don’t top your group, you get another day for knockouts before reaching the final eight. So, in essence, we’ve managed to reach the finals twice by only needing to win one game each time. This fact just fuels my determination that they need to win two games, while I only have to win one.
Tekkz performance a big surprise
Among the surprising upsets in the eChampions League is the elimination of Tekkz, Manchester City’s top player. Contrary to expectations, he didn’t make it past the initial group stage, even though he was tipped as a likely winner before the tournament began.
It’s astonishing that Tekkz isn’t advancing; it’s hard to believe. It’s a mix of emotions because Tekkz is a stand-up guy, no doubt about that. But on the brighter side, it does make the competition slightly less challenging. I wouldn’t mind facing anyone else less than him, although I did manage to beat him in our previous encounter!
Jayden believes that his departure from the eChampions League serves as an excellent illustration of the robustness and variety of competition within the FC scene.
To be straightforward, what stands out to me is the exceptional quality and depth of talent in this FC. Frankly, it makes me feel a bit overwhelmed! It’s a testament to the team when players like Tekkz and Bonnano perform so brilliantly even when they were on the brink of elimination, proving that anything is possible.
