Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy runtime confirms it as the longest movie yet

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is officially the longest movie in the Bridget Jones franchise.

As stated on the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) site, the upcoming fourth movie, set to hit UK theaters on Valentine’s Day, will have a runtime of 125 minutes, which is equivalent to 2 hours and 5 minutes.

Compared to the latest Bridget Jones movie, “Bridget Jones’s Baby” from 2016, as well as the second film, “Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason,” and the original “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” this exceeds in length.

In a few words, “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy,” due for release, is adapted from Helen Fielding’s 2013 book with the same title. Here, Bridget finds herself single once more after the heartbreaking demise of her long-term partner Mark Darcy (played by Colin Firth) four years ago.

Despite appearing solitary at times, Bridget (Renée Zellweger) is actually a mother to two children: Billy, aged 9, and Mabel, 4. She has a close-knit group of friends who are always there to lend a hand, such as the original trio Shazzer, Jude, and Tom (Sally Phillips, Shirley Henderson, and James Callis), along with work associate Miranda (Sarah Solemani). New additions to her circle include Dr. Rawlings (Emma Thompson), who was introduced in the third film and reappears in the fourth.

Currently balancing work, family life, and romance, Bridget finds herself under scrutiny from the idealistic moms at school, concerned about Billy who’s having a hard time without his father, and experiencing an array of tense encounters with her son’s overly analytical science teacher, as hinted by the movie summary.

In this story, Chiwetel Ejiofor, known for his role as Doctor Strange, takes on the part of the enigmatic mentor. Additionally, Leo Woodall from the film One Day is introduced as another potential romantic interest for Bridget.

With great joy for fans, it’s announced that Hugh Grant is back, taking up his character Daniel Cleaver once more in the novel “Mad About the Boy“, having been absent from the third movie because of script complications.

In a recent conversation with British Vogue, Grant delved into the Bridget Jones universe with Zellweger, who shared her reasons for signing up for another Bridget Jones movie.

She declared, “I adore her.” Yet, her tale remains unfinished. So long as Helen Fielding continues to write, she lives on.

The romantic comedy “Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy” is set to hit UK theaters on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. In the United States, it will make its premiere a day earlier, specifically on Peacock streaming service on February 13th.
