Bridgerton’s Queen Charlotte is about to learn a “powerful” lesson in season 4

Golda Rosheuvel, who plays Queen Charlotte in the Netflix series Bridgerton, has suggested that her character will face some difficult challenges in season four. In an interview with Digital Spy, Rosheuvel explained that Charlotte’s storyline will help her learn the importance of showing vulnerability, and that she’ll quickly grow from these experiences.

Rosheuvel didn’t share details, but viewers are aware her character will have some conflict with Lady Danbury, played by Adjoa Andoh, this season.

I was really surprised to hear that there’s some trouble with Lady Danbury! Golda Rosheuvel – who plays her – mentioned it in an interview with Radio Times, and honestly, I didn’t see that coming.

Initially, she believes Whistledown is a useful tool she can easily manage and even befriend to control the spread of gossip. However, her plans are disrupted when Lady Danbury unexpectedly requests to be excluded from the gossip column.

Golda Rosheuvel explained to Digital Spy that her character seems desperate to distract herself with matchmaking. This is because she’s avoiding difficult realities – her close friend leaving and her husband’s illness. She throws herself into these activities as a way to escape from her own life.

Andoh discussed her character’s storyline this season, telling Radio Times that Lady Danbury is determined to learn everything about her past, including exploring her family history in Sierra Leone.

The upcoming season will feature a potential romance between Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson, and Sophie Baek, played by Yerin Ha. Viewers will be wondering if their connection will develop into something more.

Inspired by the story of Cinderella, Benedict and Sophie will first meet at a masquerade ball hosted by his mother. The trailer reveals Sophie accidentally leaves a glove behind, and Benedict becomes determined to find the woman who lost it – and discover her true identity.

Although the series is based on a traditional fairytale, Ha told InStyle that it quickly develops its own unique story after the initial events.

I especially enjoyed the part of Cinderella where they’re at the masquerade ball and Benedict is trying to find Sophie. After that, though, the story takes a completely different turn.

Thompson described the natural development of her romantic connection to Town & Country, explaining, “I felt like we’d just fall into it, without trying to force anything or put in extra effort to create a spark. We decided to simply enjoy the journey together.”

The first part of Bridgerton season 4 will be available on Netflix starting January 29th, and the second part will be released on February 26th. You can also stream the first three seasons and the prequel series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, on Netflix.
