Okay, so I just heard that this thriller called Anniversary – you might recognize Phoebe Dynevor from Bridgerton, she’s the lead – is hitting Netflix in the UK and Ireland on February 1st! It came out last year, and people have been saying it’s got a really intense ending, so I’m definitely adding it to my watchlist. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll be able to check it out soon!
This thriller centers on Ellen and Paul Taylor (played by Diane Lane and Kyle Chandler), whose family begins to unravel as they become entangled in the growing unrest of a group known as “The Change.”
The arrival of Liz, a past student of Ellen’s, and her new relationship with the Taylors’ son, Josh, creates a lot of friction and threatens to cause a major conflict.

When Liz joins the Taylor family, old conflicts start to resurface and relationships are strained. Her involvement in a mysterious event called “The Change” exposes deep-seated tensions, threatening to tear the family apart at a time when the country is already facing significant challenges and instability.
The film also stars Zoey Deutch, known from Zombieland: Double Tap, Madeline Brewer of The Handmaid’s Tale, Mckenna Grace from Regretting You, and Daryl McCormack, who appeared in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

Jan Komasa’s film, Anniversary, has been well-received by critics and currently holds a 66% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 64 reviews.
Critics have praised “Anniversary” as a suspenseful and relevant thriller that offers a glimpse into a potentially unsettling future. RogerEbert.com highlighted the film’s impactful ending, and Awards Radar called it both chilling and timely.
Common Sense Media describes this political thriller as a gripping and unsettling story, comparing it to both 1984 and Parasite. They suggest it’s a thought-provoking film that will appeal to viewers across the political spectrum.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film creates a sense of dread through its close focus on compelling characters, brought to life by a remarkably engaging and often unsettling cast.
According to IndieWire, while the film is a tightly paced and well-acted thriller, its depiction of corporate control feels too simplified to truly capture the disturbing reality of totalitarianism.
Anniversary is coming to Netflix on 1 February.
The latest issue of Living Legends is now available, and it’s a special tribute to Dolly Parton! You can find ‘Dolly at 80’ in shops that sell magazines or order it online for only £8.99.
