Bridgerton star Bessie Carter reveals hidden health condition – after hitting back at ‘nepo baby’ claims
Actress Bessie Carter disclosed that she struggles with respiratory issues, as seen in a recent Instagram post where she demonstrated using a nebulizer.
In her own words, the actress from Bridgerton, aged 31, admitted that she discovered she was not breathing correctly after finding herself in a snug corset during rehearsals for a Broadway production the previous year.
Since the popularity of Bridgerton and Bessie’s portrayal of Prudence Featherington, her recent Instagram post on Thursday hinted that she has been using a nebulizer to manage an ongoing health issue.
Generally speaking, this device is often utilized by individuals dealing with conditions like asthma or bronchitis. Its primary function is to simplify breathing by dispersing medication as a fine mist directly into the lungs.
31-year-old posted a selfie on Instagram Stories while using a nebulizer, captioning it as “Real Life”.

Currently, the popular TV personality is appearing together with her mother, Imelda Staunton, for the initial time on stage in the West End production titled Mrs Warren’s Profession.
In a recent podcast interview, the Bridgerton actor delved deeper into her respiratory concern, sharing the exact instant she recognized it as an issue.
She mentioned that during the show at the National last year, she needed additional assistance from the voice actor to loosen her ribs, as she’s accustomed to keeping them tight due to a desire for a slender waist. This preference has become so ingrained and unconscious within her that she’s not even aware she’s doing it.
Following a response from Bessie, daughter of Downton Abbey actor Jim Carter, who refuted accusations that she is a “nepotism baby,” during an interview with The Independent.
Regardless of the significant achievements of her parents in the acting industry, Bessie maintains that she has earned her own career and takes little notice of being labeled as a ‘nepo baby’.
She stated that she takes initiative, preferring to create her own opportunities rather than waiting for someone else to contact her.
Some individuals may employ the term ‘nepotism baby’, but personally, I pay no heed to it. I have faith in my abilities and my unique journey, and I’ve never once relied on my parents to secure employment for me.

Bessie was backed by her mother, while Imelda chimed in: “It feels like there are approximately 22 million more actors nowadays. Back in Maggie Smith and Robert Stephens’ time, you could easily list actors of such renown on just one hand.
It’s fairly common for kids to have actor parents, given the large number of people involved in acting.
Bessie, on the other hand, acknowledged that she has drawn inspiration from her parents and their thriving professions, showering them with compliments.
In a recent project, the 31-year-old takes on the role of Nancy Mitford in a new six-part TV series called Outrageous. This show delves into the lives of the Mitford sisters and is inspired by Mary S. Lovell’s biography.
Following the unveiling of their show the day before, Bessie and her fellow actors rejoiced at the Sea Containers hotel, where she was provided a lavish suite offering breathtaking vistas of London.
