Bridgerton fans speculate over sexuality of season 4's main character and 'can't wait' for Luke Thompson's glow up as Netflix announce new romantic plot

As a casting director for Bridgerton, I’ve had the unique experience of sifting through countless applications from aspiring actors, all vying for their chance to be a part of this beloved Netflix series. It’s truly humbling and inspiring to see the passion and dedication that each applicant brings to the table.

Fans of Bridgerton have been debating Benedict Bridgerton’s sexual orientation following Netflix’s announcement that he will star in the upcoming fourth season.

On Tuesday, the streaming service revealed that the second oldest brother of the main family will be the center of attention in the upcoming episode.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d describe it this way: I’ve had the pleasure of observing Luke Thompson, a charismatic 36-year-old actor, who’s long been a delightful yet supporting cast member in our favorite shows. However, it’s high time we delve deeper into his character – the perpetual bachelor. This intriguing figure has captivated audiences for years and is now ready to take center stage.

Towards the close of season 3, Benedict engaged in a romantic triangle with Lady Tilley Arnold (performed by Hannah New) and her companion Paul (portrayed by Lucas Aurelio). This threesome was instigated upon Tilley’s suggestion for him to broaden his horizons.

If Tilley feels the need to go back to being exclusive in their relationship, but Benedict isn’t prepared for that commitment yet due to newly discovered aspects of himself, he chose to end the partnership.

Fans are now speculating if Benedict will further explore his sexuality in the upcoming season, and they’re eagerly anticipating his potential growth and transformation.

One wrote on social media platform X: ‘Please give him a male love interest Shonda’;

‘I need Benedict Bridgerton to be day please please please!’;

‘He’s already so hot and charming. How can they make him even more desirable, can’t wait!’

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but notice how contentedly married Benedict’s elder brother Anthony and younger brother Colin are in the fourth season. Yet, Benedict himself remains reluctant to embark on the marital journey.

I hadn’t met anyone particularly noteworthy until I encountered a mesmerizing lady in silver attire at my mother’s masquerade ball, as Netflix recently unveiled.

In the fourth season, there will be a total of eight episodes produced. These episodes will be filmed in London, with Jess Brownell overseeing production as showrunner, and Shonda Rhimes present as an executive producer.

Luke commented: “Benedict has often seemed aimless to some – or independent, depending on your perspective. However, lately he’s been striving to discover a more stable side of himself.”

Shonda commented, “He’s an endearing man on a journey of self-discovery. His charm and wit are sure to amuse. I can’t wait for everyone to see him.”

I’m thrilled to share that Luke has graciously accepted Benedict’s upcoming role with open arms. Netflix recently released a heartwarming video of their announcement.

He’s depicted entering a door and receiving a masked suit for a masquerade ball as a suggestion of where his storyline in the series will commence.

Filming is expected to begin next year for series 4.

In the third series released this year, the focus shifted to the romantic tug-of-war between Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton).

During a podcast episode of “Should I Delete That,” Kelly Valentine Henry, the casting director for a provocative period drama, shared that she has received an excessive amount of explicit audition videos.

‘It’s every day … I get the most unbelievable videos, unsolicited,’ she explained.

She went on explaining, “It’s really about intimacy, not the real deal but still quite intense. It’s not explicit images, but it comes close.”

Henry, a long-time cast member of the successful Netflix series, shared that his email inbox is continually filled with aspiring actors seeking an opportunity to be part of the hit show.

She is currently in the process of casting Season 4.

During their ongoing job hunt, Henry observed a significant level of enthusiasm from various candidates for the desired position. One applicant distinguished herself by sending an oversized plastic banner portraying herself in Regency attire.

‘It’s a bit sad, really, I don’t understand,’ she added.

The casting director reveals comes as season three included Bridgerton’s raciest episode ever.

Fans of Bridgerton were anticipating a steamy third season based on the promise, but they felt let down when there were fewer regency-era romances in the first part of the third installment.

In the second part of the period drama, the makers have exceeded expectations with episode five. Notably, this installment includes a lengthy six-minute sex scene between Nicola Coughlan’s character Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton’s character Colin Bridgerton.

Previously, Nicola expressed her confidence: “I believe we took the title for sauciest duo in this show!” She playfully hinted that her on-screen romantic scenes with Luke may have caused some damage to the set.

To Entertainment Weekly, we admitted that during filming of one particular scene, we accidentally damaged a piece of furniture. It was similar to a planned stunt where we were instructed, “‘This is what we’ll do, this is how it will go.'”

When they granted us the flexibility to take charge of our scenes, I felt truly empowered. We were given the reins to decide how things should be done, which was an exhilarating experience for me.

‘So we felt super. They were actually really enjoyable. I didn’t think they would be. It was fun.’

In the meantime, certain enthusiasts have begun speculating about season four and have criticized a Netflix executive for announcing that there will be no new Bridgerton installment for the next two years.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Showrunner Jess Brownell confessed that it will take some time before audiences can follow the love story of another Bridgerton sibling.

She mentioned that we’re making an effort to accelerate the production process for the seasons, yet it takes us eight months to shoot and edit them. Afterward, they need to be dubbed into various languages.

Based on my personal experience as a writer and editor, I can relate to the challenge of completing a writing project that seems to take forever. Two years is a significant amount of time, and it’s natural to want to speed up the process. However, from my perspective, the quality of the work often outweighs the desire for a quicker turnaround. Each draft requires careful consideration, thorough research, and thoughtful editing. The writing journey can be filled with setbacks, self-doubt, and unexpected twists. But when the project is finally completed, the sense of accomplishment and pride in a job well done makes it all worthwhile. So, while we may try to expedite the process, ultimately, we must trust the timeline and remain committed to producing our best work.
