As a lifestyle expert with years of experience under my belt, I must say that miscommunications like the one Brittany Hockley and her fiancé Benjamin Siegrist encountered with their wedding invitations can happen to anyone, especially when dealing with international guests. The language barrier is always tricky, but the solution lies in being clear and specific.

Bride-to-be Brittany Hockley has revealed a huge faux pas with her wedding invitations for her upcoming nuptials with fiancée Benjamin Siegrist.

Originating from the United States, the lead character of “The Bachelor,” aged 37, got engaged to a 32-year-old Swiss soccer player in June. However, there seemed to be some confusion about the dress code among the international attendees invited to their event.

Brittany shared an amusing mix-up that occurred regarding her ‘no thongs’ rule at the wedding.

On her Life Uncut podcast, I shared my dress etiquette tips, which generally align with what most people know. However, it seems my word choices may have left some listeners a bit perplexed.

She shared with her co-host Laura Byrne that after Ben and I had distributed the ‘save-the-date’ invitations, he mentioned to me, “Darling, I’ve been receiving some puzzling messages; people are inquiring about the dress code.

It wasn’t until Brittany clarified that Ben got ‘around four to five’ messages about the dress code from foreign visitors and one of his female friends raised a question about the ‘no thongs’ policy, that he fully understood the issue.

‘She was like, ‘How strict is it? What if it doesn’t go with my dress,”‘ Brittany recalled.

Then she says, “I’m not sure she’ll realize if I wear it,” to which he replied, “She will notice it.

The miscommunication riled up the pal who called Brittany’s dress code request ‘perverted’ after Ben explained his bride would be able to see the offending items quite clearly on the day.

Ben said, “‘She’ll notice them since they’re on her feet.’ To which she replied, ‘A thong is essentially the same as a G-string.’ This made him realize there might be a communication issue at hand.’

Most Aussies call flip-flops thongs, which are not often worn at weddings.

However, in Europe and much of the rest of the world a thong is a skimpy woman’s undergarment.

Ben phones me and says, “Sweetheart, it seems that about half of our wedding guests believe you told them they can’t wear thongs.

‘Strict enforcement, full briefs or nothing.’

As an over-the-moon fan, I can’t help but share my latest discovery – in her recent podcast, the one and only Brittany admitted to being taken aback when she found out her dear husband-to-be has a penchant for digging into cottage cheese straight from the tub!

‘Just last night I got a new ick from Ben,’ she began.

Brittany mentioned that he usually eats yogurt while video-calling us, but this time the yogurt seemed quite thick.

‘I asked him what he was eating and he said it was cottage cheese.’

Brittany said Benjamin told her he had ‘just discovered it, loves it and buys them in bulk.’

‘He ate is raw, out of the tub… I just think it’s revolting,’ she confessed.

Her co-host, Laura, commented, “I’m not shocked either. Top athletes often consume some rather unusual foods. I’m not as troubled by it as you seem to be.

Back in June, Brittany publicly declared her engagement to Benjamin, posting about it on her Instagram page.

In her post, Brittany happily declared her affection for her new fiance by saying: ‘No matter when it is, my answer is always yes! We’ll spend the rest of our lives cherishing one another.’

Brittany went Instagram official with Swiss goalkeeper Benjamin in January last year.

The duo met in November 2022 on the celebrity dating app Raya.

When Celtic Football Club, a soccer team based in Glasgow, was competing against Sydney FC in Australia.
