Bride Breaks Down Over Feeling Like a ‘Fraud’ on Wedding Day
On this week’s Married At First Sight, I couldn’t contain my excitement as I watched Katie Johnstone and Tim Gromie make their way down the aisle together!
However, just before the wedding, the bride suddenly felt jittery, bursting into tears when she confessed that she felt like an imposter, having found love on the television program.
37-year-old sobbed, saying, ‘It seems almost unnatural, doesn’t it? Aren’t you supposed to first fall in love and then make it happen?’
However, no one has fallen in love with me, which makes me feel like an imposter. Essentially, it is believed that someone should express their affection for you initially.
The CEO from Queensland continued, expressing: “One should be loved first, but no one showed me enough affection to undertake this task. Now, I find myself compelled to ensnare a stranger in the process.
This feels more like an expression of affection rather than what it currently is. The truth is, I don’t personally know him at all – he’s a total stranger. Despite my yearning for genuine affection, this situation leaves me feeling terrified. Wearing what I am wearing only adds to the unease.

Previously in the show, Katie revealed that a former partner made her feel self-conscious about her body through shaming, which significantly affected her self-confidence.
She shared that she vividly recalled an incident at a pool party where she was wearing a bikini alongside her family and friends. Her ex-partner was present as well, and he inquired about her losing weight in an unkind manner, asking something like, “Could you possibly shed some pounds?
‘I really felt like so destroyed and so ashamed. I was not getting out of that pool.’
She stated: “For the very first time, I have the sense that I’m advancing as someone worthy of love and prepared for it.
For the past decade, I haven’t been in a relationship and I’m unsure about the steps to take. Why not skip that process and go ahead with marriage right away? I’m eagerly anticipating a positive outcome from this decision.
As a devoted viewer myself, I found an immediate connection with Katie, who quickly became the beloved character of the show. Many fellow viewers and I have taken to expressing our thoughts and feelings about X.
‘With the odds on this show, I’m really really worried abt Katie,’ one person posted.
‘Watch out, Timbo! If you harm Katie, we will be after you as soon as the sun rises, with pitchforks in hand.’

‘I beg of you, PLEASE match Katie with a good, decent bloke OR ELSE,’ one more said.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must say that this season of #MAFS has been captivating, and Katie is truly stealing hearts left and right! Tim seems to have struck gold with her, and it’s evident that she’s the real deal – a genuine diamond among the pretenders.
‘I hope Katie does well here. She seems like a lovely hearted woman,’ someone else said.
A different person added: ‘If Tim and Katie don’t work out, I might break a window.’ (Informal)
or
Yet another person interjected: ‘If Tim and Katie aren’t a good fit, I’ll smash a pane of glass.’ (More formal)
One individual stated, ‘Let’s safeguard Katie under any circumstances,’ and another concurred, ‘Given how much we adore her, let’s defend her at all costs!’
It wasn’t a fairytale wedding for Katie as the day quickly spiralled into disaster.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I must confess that when I found myself partnered with someone outside my usual preferences, I couldn’t help but feel a tinge of disillusionment. It’s only human to have certain expectations, but life often has a knack for throwing us curveballs!
In just a short while after catching sight of Katie at the altar, Tim swiftly conveyed that she wasn’t quite the person he had been expecting.

Even though Katie tried to make things comfortable by giving a friendly smile and initiating a hug, Tim responded by stepping back, which left Katie feeling uneasy and puzzled.
Katie attempted to ease the tension with a welcoming grin and a warm embrace, but Tim moved away, causing her to feel awkward and perplexed.
During an unexpected private conversation at their wedding celebration, Tim confided in a producer about his feelings of frustration.
‘Totally not what I wanted. Not good,’ Tim declared bluntly.
Typically, I find myself drawn to women who are on the shorter side, have a slim build, and either blond or brunette hair. However, Katie doesn’t fit that mold at all. From the get-go, there’s no spark or attraction between us. It’s clear right away.
Tim went on expressing his sorrow over the absence of a connection, admitting he felt ‘disappointed’ and ‘ashamed’ about the outcome of the game.
‘I feel like I’ve wasted my time. I just want to run away,’ he admitted.
