Brett Goldstein Reveals How Ted Lasso Writers Honored George Wendt After His Passing

Recently, during Ted Danson’s podcast “Where Everybody Knows Your Name,” the actor who plays Roy Kent shared a heartfelt moment. He mentioned that he was with his co-star (and Dan Went’s nephew) when they received news of Went’s passing.

Following this, Danson shared insights about coping with the loss of his friend, expressing its sadness, and emphasizing the significance of honoring him and his enduring legacy. It seems they did just that here, as well as in the Ted Lasso writing team.
Yet, Ted Lasso’s affection for Wendt and Cheers extends beyond this particular scene. In the Season 3 finale, there’s a nod to Cheers hidden in Mae’s pub. Throughout the series, a picture of Geronimo – a character from Sam Malone’s bar – was present in the pub.
