It’s possible Bret Michaels wasn’t enthusiastic about a 40th anniversary tour with Poison. While he has some solo performances planned, fans are really hoping to see the whole band play together. It’s hard to name many popular songs that Bret Michaels has done on his own, and that highlights what fans are missing.
A 2026 tour was considered, but it’s now off the table, primarily due to financial disagreements. While all the band members stood to profit, one member, Michaels, demanded a significantly larger share of the earnings than the others – far more than a fair split would have allowed.
He actually requested six times the amount anyone else did, which is surprising considering all the original members of Poison are still involved. It would have been more understandable if Bret Michaels was the only remaining original member, or even one of just a couple, but that’s not the situation. His request just seems excessively greedy.
Poison won’t be touring in 2026 because Bret Michaels wanted an unfair amount of money
Rikki Rockett told Page Six that a Poison reunion fell apart because Bret Michaels wanted a significantly larger share of the profits. Rockett explained that Michaels wanted six times more money than the other band members – himself, C.C. DeVille, and Bobby Dall – which made a fair agreement impossible. While Rockett loves performing with the band, he said he’s unwilling to work hard just to disproportionately benefit someone else.
He has a point. Although the lead singer is the most recognizable member, everyone in Poison has contributed significantly to the band’s distinctive sound within the hair metal scene. They’re still one of the most well-loved bands in that genre, and it’s likely they’ll stay popular for a long time.
It’s really disappointing, though. Poison still has dedicated fans, but a disagreement over money – specifically, one member wanting a larger share for touring – means the 40th anniversary tour won’t happen. It makes you wonder if the band will ever tour again if they can’t resolve these financial issues.
Despite Poison not currently touring, C.C. Rockett is still performing live with his band, Rockett Mafia. Poison fans hoping to hear their favorite songs live will need to attend both a Bret Michaels solo show and a Rockett Mafia concert.
