Brendan Fraser is finally speaking out after twenty years about his experiences with The Mummy movies.
I was so excited to read what Brendan Fraser had to say about being back for the next movie in the series! It’s amazing to hear from the Oscar winner – especially after his incredible performance in The Whale. He talked to the Associated Press about working on the fourth film, and I can’t wait to hear all about it.
Brendan Fraser, originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, discussed revisiting his iconic role after Variety announced on November 4th that Universal Pictures is developing a new movie starring him, to be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
The experienced actor, known for movies like ‘School Ties,’ ‘Encino Man,’ and ‘George of the Jungle’ from the 1990s, recently shared that his ideal ‘Mummy’ film was never produced.
The actor, known for his roles in The Mummy Returns (2001) and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), shared his honest thoughts about the latest Mummy movie.
Let me tell you about a particularly memorable trip! I was chatting with a reporter from the Associated Press, trying to explain how this all came about. It started with a project where we combined two separate initiatives. NBC was broadcasting the Olympics that year, and that connection ultimately led us to China. It was a bit of a whirlwind, but an incredible experience!

Fraser said that ‘working in Shanghai’ made for ‘an incredible experience.’
The actor said they were particularly proud of the third film, feeling it worked well as a complete story on its own. They explained that the team assembled a new group of collaborators and put their all into making it the best it could be.
The project I’ve been hoping to create is finally happening. I’ve waited two decades for this opportunity, and the signal has been inconsistent – sometimes strong and clear, other times barely noticeable.
Fraser said he believed it was ‘time to give the fans what they want’ with the forthcoming film.
Rachel Weisz, the Oscar-winning actress known for “The Constant Gardener,” will also be back for the fourth movie, according to Variety.
Weisz was in the first two films playing the character Evelyn, prior to skipping on the third.
Directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett recently worked on the 2019 film Ready or Not and the 2022 Scream reboot for Paramount Pictures.
Fraser had expressed concern about how the writers would create a believable story to include his character, Rick O’Connell.

In an October 2022 interview with Variety, Fraser admitted he wasn’t sure how a potential return would happen, but said he’d consider it if a compelling idea came along.
When asked by the Associated Press how he’s managed to stay positive and kind after so many years in the entertainment industry, Brendan Fraser explained that he definitely experiences anger and frustration, and he notices when people cut corners or exploit loopholes.
It’s frustrating when someone seems to have all the power and you keep trying to fight back, but nothing works and they just make fun of you. You end up feeling drained and defeated.
He wondered who would support that person or cause, admitting it might not be him, but suggesting that simply contributing could be a way to make a difference.
