As I stepped out in public for the first time since announcing my remarkable 30kg weight loss journey, I felt proud to see myself looking lean and fit.
As a devoted wellness advocate, I’m thrilled to share my recent personal achievement: over the past year, I’ve managed to reduce a substantial portion of my body weight – about a fourth, to be exact! This life-changing transformation has been an exhilarating journey, and I can’t wait to continue inspiring others with my story.
On Monday, Brendan showed off his slimmed down figure as he went on a coffee run in Melbourne.
For the excursion, the ex-athlete opted for a relaxed look, wearing a simple black t-shirt and a roomy pair of khaki Ralph Lauren shorts.
The AFL star completed his look with a pair of white sneakers, long black socks and a grey cap.
Brendan was seen crossing the road after picking up a tray of take out coffees in the suburb of Hampton.
Last week, the sports star discussed his transformation on Fox FM’s Fifi, Fev and Nick breakfast show, and told his co-hosts what his secret to shedding the kilos was.
‘I’m on another diet. I’m two weeks in and feeling amazing. I’ve dropped like nine kilos as I’m doing keto, which is perfect for me,’ he began.
“I avoid foods with carbs or sugar because I’m not particularly fond of sugar, so I don’t consume many chocolates.”
The keto diet is a diet that’s low in carbs and high in fats, designed to put your body into a metabolic state known as ketosis. In this state, your body starts burning fat instead of carbohydrates for energy, which can aid in weight loss.
Brendan mentioned that he’s been savoring the experience of sampling different kinds of food as part of his eating plan, and he’s already discovered some remarkable – and unanticipated – advantages.
“For my meal, I’ll be enjoying cauliflower rice and cauliflower puree with some protein-rich options like salmon, fish, and chicken. The food is visually appealing and it’s essentially all the foods I eat but with fewer carbs.”
As a former professional footballer who once tipped the scales at a whopping 128kg, I can tell you that my journey to get back to my playing weight has been nothing short of transformative. It seems like just yesterday when people would recognize me on the street and exclaim “Is that him Fev?!” due to my substantial size. But now, as I continue to shed pounds and approach my playing weight at Carlton, it’s a testament to the power of determination and perseverance. My weight loss journey has been more than just about physical transformation; it’s also been about self-discovery and reclaiming my health and vitality. The comments I used to hear on the street have given way to admiration and encouragement as people see the progress I’ve made, and that’s a feeling that never gets old.
Earlier, it came out that Brendan believed he might not survive due to the intense effort required to shed 12 kilograms within a span of nine days, which was a stipulation in his agreement with weight loss experts from Jenny Craig.
As a lifestyle advisor, I proudly joined forces with Jenny Craig in 2017, and when the unfortunate news broke about their bankruptcy, I shared my contractual responsibilities that were expected of me during our partnership.
He mentioned on the radio that although he received a significant amount of money, during the initial half year, he needed to shed quite a bit of weight.
For the following year, it was required that you maintain a weight within two kilograms of your starting point. Monthly weigh-ins were necessary, self-administered without assistance.
Brendan went on to explain the ‘scary’ lengths he went to to uphold his end of the bargain, which culminated in him needing to lose nearly 12 kilos in nine days.
He mentioned that things became a bit tense as the major weigh-in approached, where he’d receive a substantial amount of money. As a result, he felt compelled to give his best performance.
My target weight was 108 kg, but with just nine days left, I weighed 119.8 kg. I had a tight deadline of losing this excess weight in those remaining nine days, and I fasted for almost seven days to achieve it.
‘I went to a sauna and I walked out at the Brighton baths to go for a little walk but I had no energy. It was so bad, it was the only time I thought I’d die. My nose started bleeding for no reason and I had some soup which filled me back up.’
However, I had a fantastic result that morning. Upon waking, I stepped on the scale and found I had reached 107 pounds. Everyone cheered and congratulated me.
