I, a former AFL player now aged 43, shared with the Herald Sun my experience of being paid an impressive $500,000 for participating in that popular reality show back in the year 2016.
He shared that his daily income was around $500,000 in total. This amounted to approximately $350,000 initially, followed by $5,000 per day. So, he had earned nearly $500,000 in total.
Brendan also revealed he negotiated a special clause on his contract which allowed him to smoke.
In the second season of the program back in 2016, the athlete emerged as the victor, surpassing competitors such as Shane Warne, Anthony Callea, and Havana Brown.
Previously, it was disclosed that different stars received varying salaries, with the late cricket icon Shane earning an astonishing $2.2 million for his stint on the program.
“He was bound by a provision in his contract that left him with nothing if he chose to depart. Once, when he felt like quitting, I reminded him of the $2.2 million incentive to stay.”
In the 2016 edition of the show, Shane was among the eight celebrities who were eliminated. He faced a tough competition against Brendan and Paul Harragon, an NRL star, in the final stages but ultimately did not make it to the second place.

A source from the production team of Channel 10’s survival show revealed that one male contestant earned approximately $45,545 per week during this season.
If they endure the infamously harsh jungle circumstances, they will receive an additional $5,000 each day thereafter as a potential prize to donate to their preferred charity, which could amount to $100,000 in total.
Skye Wheatley said her pay on the series didn’t match her regular earnings as an influencer.
In an interview with Pedestrian TV, the ex-Big Brother contestant, 30, admitted honestly that they could earn more if they stayed at home.
The well-known influencer remarked casually: “I’d be happy to do it without compensation. It’s all for charity, so what’s the use of talking about the money?”
According to Callum Hole, Skye’s fellow actor and a 24-year-old, he is now making a substantial income from his new role, surpassing his earnings during his time on Love Island.
Khanh Ong, aged 30, mentioned that it took persistent efforts from producers for him to agree to join the show – with a significantly increased compensation package compared to their initial proposal.
