Breguet Celebrates 250 Years of Watchmaking with the Classique Souscription 2025 Limited Edition
Breguet is marking its 250th year in business by unveiling the Classique Souscription 2025 wristwatch, a unique limited-edition watch inspired by the groundbreaking Souscription pocket watch created by Abraham-Louis Breguet more than two centuries ago. A key aspect of this launch is the debut of “Breguet gold”, an exclusive alloy made from 18k gold, silver, copper, and palladium.
The new model of this wristwatch boasts a 40mm case size, tailored to suit modern tastes while preserving the fundamental character of the classic pocket watch. A flame-blue steel Breguet hand sits centrally, poised above Breguet Arabic numerals and a refined chemin de fer minute track. As with all Breguet timepieces, it bears a secret “Souscription” inscription subtly etched onto the dial – a unique mark of authenticity designed to deter counterfeiting.
Fundamentally, this timepiece operates on the VS00 self-winding mechanism, providing an uninterrupted operation for 96 hours or four days at 21,600 alternations per hour. The movement exhibits exquisite embellishments, such as the Quai de l’Horloge guilloché design, which draws inspiration from Parisian architecture, polished steel screws, rubies, and a ratchet wheel inscribed with A.-L. Breguet’s historical advertising text. These details underscore Breguet’s expertise in horological craftsmanship, resulting in the watch being a harmonious combination of tradition and innovation.
Regarding the launch of the Classique Souscription 2025 limited edition, Gregory Kissling, CEO of Breguet, remarks, “This timepiece symbolizes our aim to blend the rich legacy of Breguet with our aspirations for continued growth in the future.” This watch is priced at $48,700 USD and can be inquired about through Breguet’s boutiques.
