Breaking down The Boys’ characters' chances of surviving the season 4 finale

As a dedicated gamer and avid fan of The Boys, I have come to expect the unexpected when it comes to this dark and twisted series. With the ominous looming threat of death hanging over every character in season 4, I can’t help but feel uneasy about the fate of some beloved characters.

Occasionally, The Boys series might resemble Game of Thrones. It’s risky to grow fond of a character as they could meet their demise. With the show concluding after season 5, the stakes are higher for important characters. Whether your favorite hero or antagonist, no one is safe. Considering this, let’s examine the primary characters from The Boys season 4 and their potential fates.

Billy Butcher

As a long-time fan of The Boys, I can tell you from my perspective that there’s a slim possibility that Butcher might not make it past the season 4 finale. Despite his immense popularity among fans, the highly anticipated showdown between him and Homelander hasn’t taken place yet. This fight is significant because it sets up an exciting climax to the series and is something that wasn’t portrayed in the original comics.

The Boys

Among The Boys, none of them except for Annie are at risk of losing their lives, even if Butcher were to die. The team would continue functioning without him. However, there’s a possibility that Annie might perish to help Hughie comprehend Butcher’s rage and commitment towards eliminating supes.

Victoria Neuman

Among all the others, this one gives Victoria Neuman the most challenges. She hasn’t held back her criticisms even towards Homelander. Her words at Tek Knight’s “Eye Wide Shut” party were pivotal and likely infuriated him. He had an opportunity to be the focal point, but he blew it. That single failure could be enough for him to end her life.

Robert Singer

He has no chance of making it through this situation. In the comic books, as well as most of Jim Beaver’s character roles, the outcomes have been fatal. Unfortunately, this trend is unlikely to be broken.

The Deep

The Depth character is fated for a harsh existence, enduring while others don’t make it. Eventually, he will meet the same end as his comic book equivalent – being revamped and assigned to a new squad.

Firecracker

Fortunately, she won’t survive this time. Firecracker’s behavior is abhorrent. Her actions have consistently fueled hate and violence, and she has yet to express any regret. It remains to be seen which of them, Homelander or Hugie, will end her destructive path.

Chance of death: 100%

Sage

Sage’s situation is a 50-50 possibility, as she might be considering ending her life due to the unbearable agony inflicted by the recurring lobotomies and her brain evolving beyond control. Alternatively, she could have devised a plan to leave behind a superior world before departing. However, there’s also a chance that she manages to elude her circumstances and finds refuge on a secluded island, freed from her abilities.

Chance of death: 50%

A-Train

Sadly, A-Train’s heroic moment comes at the cost of his life. He is expected to perish while saving someone from Homelander, possibly in front of an audience.

Chance of death: 90%

Ashley Barrett

Based on my understanding of Ashley Barrett’s story, I can’t help but feel a pang of sympathy for her bitter-sweet fate. She climbed her way up to the top position in Vought International, an impressive feat for any professional. Yet, instead of basking in the glory of her achievement, she was left holding the bag for all the company’s misdeeds and controversies.

Black Noir

As a long-time fan of The Boys comic series, I’ve grown fond of each character’s unique backstory and development. However, I must admit that Sage’s manipulation of Black Noir, leading to his downfall, leaves me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

Ryan

Ryan Butcher is set to break free from his father’s clingy dependence and instead be brought up by Stan Edgar, with Victoria Neuman as a potential guardian if she makes it through. While Ryan exhibits traits similar to his father on occasion, he has yet to fully embrace them. Of all people, Ryan deserves a shot at contentment.

Chance of death: 0%

Homelander

I’m excited to see Homelander continue his reign of awfulness for another season. However, it’s uncertain if he’ll retain his all-powerful status or if he’ll be weakened in some way. Frenchie is working on a virus that could potentially strip Homelander of his abilities or at least make him less formidable. If this comes to pass, Butcher and Homelander’s battles would become more evenly matched, although nothing about their encounters can ever truly be considered fair fights.
