Fans of Conrad Fisher have had an emotional ride these past few months. Since the start of the third and final season of *The Summer I Turned Pretty* on July 16th, Conrad (played by Christopher Briney) has faced a lot of challenges. But viewers who supported him throughout the season finally got a satisfying conclusion on Wednesday, seeing him reconnect with the person he loves and find happiness.
Since its debut in June 2022, the TV series *The Summer I Turned Pretty* – based on Jenny Han’s popular young adult novels – has become a hit around the world. The third season started with two new episodes and quickly drew in 25 million viewers in its first week on Prime Video, a 40% jump from the start of Season 2. This season is Prime Video’s most popular TV season ever with women aged 18-34, and it’s the fifth most-watched returning season overall, following only *Reacher*, *The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power*, and *The Boys*. The show is also a major topic on social media; last week, Ad Age reported almost 200,000 TikTok posts about the series in the past month, racking up a total of 2.9 billion views.
Everyone was captivated to see who Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung) would choose – Conrad, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), or someone else – as the first season ended on September 17th. After calling off her wedding to Jeremiah in episode 8, the final two episodes showed Belly exploring Paris and even starting a new romance with someone who wasn’t a Fisher brother, all over a nine-month period.
After the tenth episode ended with Conrad flying to Paris to find Belly, viewers anticipated a tense and potentially sad final episode.
Who did Belly choose in the Season 3 finale?
Similar to the third book in *The Summer I Turned Pretty* series, Belly and Conrad ended up together by the end of the show. However, the way they got there differed from the books, which the author, Jenny Han, had previously suggested would happen.
“I really enjoy surprising people,” she said in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times. “I want the audience to be genuinely surprised by what happens next… even if some people are eager to find out the ending.”
The book series had a slightly different timeline. Jeremiah and Belly dated for under two years before Jeremiah’s infidelity and their engagement. This meant Belly was still a junior in college when their wedding fell apart. Instead of France, Belly went to Spain for study abroad, and it was there she began receiving letters from Conrad. They eventually reunited in person at Belly’s college graduation and got engaged about a year afterward. The story ended with the newly married couple happily beginning their life together.
Okay, so things really heated up when Conrad unexpectedly showed up in Paris right before Belly’s 22nd birthday! They spent the day exploring the city, then went to this party her friends threw for her. Let’s just say things led to another night together, and they finally *talked* – really talked – about how they felt. Conrad was adamant that his feelings for Belly were real, not just tied to all the difficult stuff they’d been through with his mom. But Belly was still hesitant, which was frustrating! Thankfully, as soon as he left for the train, it hit her – she was holding herself back from everything she wanted. Cue a total movie moment – she *sprinted* out of her apartment, chasing after him with Taylor Swift’s “Out of the Woods” playing in the background. It was seriously intense!
Love blossomed, and it was confirmed that Belly remained in Paris for a bit longer. Most importantly, Belly and Conrad are officially together! It’s a win for Team Conrad, so let’s celebrate!
