Breaking Amish star Jeremiah Raber delivers health update after being airlifted for ‘possible liver failure’

Jeremiah Raber, known from the TLC show Breaking Amish, recently shared news with fans after experiencing a health scare.

The 45-year-old celebrity updated his 153,000 TikTok fans on Saturday, saying he was recovering well and would be discharged from the hospital the next day.

On December 30th, he shared a selfie from the hospital, letting his fans know he needed to be transferred to another hospital by air ambulance.

Raber, who has diabetes, revealed at the time that his blood sugar was extremely high, at 993, and he was also facing potential liver failure.

The following day, the account shared photos taken from inside and outside a helicopter, and then a video seemingly filmed from a hospital bed.

He recently expressed his gratitude to his followers for their prayers, saying he really appreciated their support.

Raber has suffered from grave health issues for years.

In April 2024, he was admitted to the hospital due to heart issues and a dangerous complication of diabetes called ketoacidosis.

A fan recently left a supportive comment on TikTok, saying they hoped the recipient was feeling better and encouraging them to prioritize self-care.

Raber responded, “I do my best.” She added that anyone unfamiliar with brittle diabetes should research it, as it’s quite different from typical diabetes.

MedlinePlus explains that ketoacidosis happens when your body begins to break down fat way too quickly.

Raber first appeared on Breaking Amish in 2012, and later resurfaced on seasons of Return to Amish.

He became known as one of the most direct and honest people on the show, which follows young Amish adults as they explore life outside their community.

In March 2024, the TV star expressed gratitude to fans for their donations that helped cover his medical bills.

Amid his health crisis, fans took to Raber’s TikTok comments to share their thoughts.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always believed in the power of kindness, and I was really touched by a recent online post. Someone pointed out that a young man is facing some serious challenges, and they pleaded with others to respond with compassion, not negativity. It was a beautiful reminder that starting the new year with empathy and sending positive vibes can make a real difference in someone’s life. Let’s all choose kindness, and keep this young man in our thoughts as he works towards recovery.

Someone else empathized, ‘Diabetes is a terrible disease.’

‘Praying for you, buddy,’ another supportive TikTok follower posted.

Raber married Carmela Raber in 2016. However, she filed for a restraining order against him in April 2022, and he later confirmed they had separated, according to E! News.

He has three children from his prior marriage to Naomi Stutzman.
