Bready Early Analysis
Remark: The revised assessment reflects the reduced power of Bready. Before the reduction, Breadys DPS was approximately 80-85% that of Scarlet: Black Shadow on its suggested flavor route. The total DPS of Bready has been decreased by about 18%, making it more challenging to increase her power because higher buffs and lower base modifiers for skills result in a further reduction of her damage when used in optimal teams.
Black Shadow in terms of damage per second (DPS). Additionally, it seems that further enhancements to Bready’s Lasting Flavor will be challenging due to its current state.
Overview
- Bready can deal damage comparable to Scarlet: Black Shadow (With Alice) when using her “Recommended Taste” Distributed damage route (60%~ of SBS optimal team) due to the multitude of self buffs Bread can give herself
- Bready’s Lingering Taste Route does considerably more damage without outside buffers. However, there are very limited amount of sustain damage buffers, and are season-limited Nikke (Rosanna: Ocean Chicc). The buffers for distributed damage are also much better buffers which leads to “Recommended Taste” route dealing more damage in the end.
- Bready can’t have Lingering taste and Recommend taste at the same time.
- Strong staple Water DPS in solo raids, however directly competes with Scarlet: Black Shadow Maid team when using her recommended taste route in neutral element
- Unimpressive DPS if the Commander does not have a sustain damage buffer or distributed damage buffer in the team
Newbie/Incomplete Box Section
Breadwy is among the more powerful non-pilgrim Damage Per Second (DPS) characters. She has two methods for dealing damage: one by distributing it evenly, and another by inflicting continuous, prolonged damage.
As a devoted fan, I can confidently say that Bready truly shines when partnered with the right team to dish out formidable damage. The ideal trio includes “Romantic Maid” (Mast) and “Innocent Maid” (Anchor), ensuring a delightful taste experience. For an enhanced lingering flavor, pair her with either “Chicc Ocean” (Rosanna) or “Elegant Waves” (Elegg).
In their strongest lineups, character Bready inflicts the same amount of damage as Escape Queen (Quency’s former title for toughest water DPS). Interestingly, both characters are currently at this level. However, if there’s no vulnerable core present, Bready outperforms in this scenario.
She does mediocre damage if she is not paired with any of these Nikkes listed above.

Skill 1: Lonely Gourmet
Triggers upon entering Full Burst mode, affecting yourself. Boosts ATK by 70.01% for 10 seconds.
Triggers when you gain a buff that enhances your sustained damage. Affects only you. Slows down charge speed by 20% for 50 seconds. This effect is non-dispelable.
Removes the Lingering Taste buff.
Upon gaining a buff that increases distributed damage while not in a sustained damage-boosting status, affects only yourself. Slows down charge speed by 20% for 50 seconds. This effect is non-dispelable. Removes the Recommended Taste buff.
Most important part of her kit.
In my gaming experience, each of her full attacks gives me an attack power-up. She offers two distinct damage-per-second (DPS) playstyles, allowing her to fit into not one but two unique DPS roles. These are the Spread Damage and Sustained Damage archetypes.
Taking either of these paths will slow down the charging rate by 20%, resulting in a delay of 1.2 + 0.36 seconds (during automatic or non-manual gameplay) before her fully charged attacks can be unleashed. This change directly impacts her optimal damage route, implying that stats boosting charge speed are advantageous.
Charge Speed Debuff
In other words, the slower charging speed (-20%) has minimal impact on the damage output during gameplay, especially when you’re not manually controlling the character. This is because the time between shots (approximately .36 seconds) remains constant, and this doesn’t alter until the charging speed gets very close to 100%.
Skill 2: Favorite Candy
Triggers after landing three Full Charge attacks on an enemy when they’re under the Lingering Taste status, causing them to take increased damage for 5 seconds (10.2% more). Additionally, it applies an Aftertaste effect, dealing 150.04% of your final attack power as continuous damage every second for another 5 seconds.
When you hit an enemy with Full Charge while they’re under the Recommended Taste status, it boosts your attack power by 60.01% for 5 seconds (this effect is self-applied). If all enemies are hit with Full Charge while in Recommended Taste status, each one will take 265.07% of your final attack power as distributed damage.
As a gamer, I’ve noticed that going with the lingering taste buff on my character (let’s call it the off-meta choice) yields a higher DPS compared to the recommended taste buff. However, the recommended taste status creates much stronger teams, like Maid Mast and Maid Anchor. This implies that I’ll be using the recommended taste status more frequently until we get some notable sustain damage buffers in the game. In other words, the off-meta choice might offer a higher DPS, but the recommended one will be more commonly used due to its team synergy.
Because
Burst: New Flavor
As a gamer, when I’m under the Lingering Taste status, my attack damage boosts by 60.19% for 10 seconds, affecting just me. Similarly, if I have the Recommended Taste status, my Aftertaste Effect amplifies by 349.8% for the same duration, again only impacting myself, and increasing my ATK by 70.09% over the same timeframe.
Grants a huge attack damage buff no matter what status Bready is in during her burst.
Boosts modestly the attack power when in Recommended Taste status, enhancing all its existing buffs at that time.
ATK: 140.10% (During Burst)
ATK Damage: 120.2% (During Burst)
This character’s values are extraordinarily high and also benefit from damage buffs spread across multiple targets. However, this makes it more challenging to further boost her power compared to other similar characters when increasing her Attack or ATK damage bonuses. The reason she isn’t able to deal more damage, despite the significant attack boosts, is because the distributed damage per shot is relatively low and occurs at a slow pace.
The enhancement she receives from her “Aftertaste Effect” is a multiplier (150% times [1 + 3.5]). This effect does not stack with other enhancements, and it remains undiluted by any additional buffs. It’s important to note that the burst seems to affect the base duration of the “Aftertaste” damage over time (DoT), rather than directly increasing or decreasing its power as a buff or debuff.
Campaign
It’s challenging to precisely place Breadie within the Campaign without first experiencing a proper hands-on use of hers, as it were.
Initially, she’s anticipated to perform adequately in Campaign. This is because she’s primarily tied to the maid team, which isn’t a poor buffing duo, but it does create unfavorable interactions with other Burst III DPS units within the team unless paired with another area damage dealer. However, she should prove effective in stages where water-type enemies are weak, given her recommended status for taste.
Water Distribute DPS team
Arena
From a fan’s perspective, it seemed like BreadY might have taken on a more affordable role similar to SBS in PvP battles. However, her potential was never fully realized due to the need for specific support units to function optimally. On the other hand, MaidMast and S.Rosanna aren’t typically considered top-tier choices when it comes to PvP combat.
To put it simply, Maid Anchor is the only character who can effectively utilize Bready, but her damage output isn’t competitive with most Damage Per Second (DPS) characters. Moreover, distributed damage DPS units often encounter issues when faced with invulnerability or damage reduction. Additionally, Bready’s burst generation is average at best. Therefore, it might be more beneficial to explore other options in PvP rather than using Bready. Perhaps you should consider someone else instead of our new character Nikke.
Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid
Because her equipment limits it, Bready primarily utilizes just one effective team in each status at this time. However, she also has an alternate strategy available for team composition.
She’ll likely be beneficial on underwater task forces during solo missions for an extended period due to the scarcity of effective water damage dealers at present. However, she won’t typically be utilized in raids focusing on non-elemental aspects.
Recommended Taste Route
1. In simpler terms, “Rapi” could be swapped with any “1 second Cooldown Reduction (CDR) burst ability”.
2. For an easier understanding, the phrase “Escape queen” can be changed to “phantom” or any Damage Per Second (DPS) character you prefer.
3. If your Commander lacks both, you can replace “Maids” with “Elegg”.
Lingering Taste Route
As a gamer, I’d say Rapi can be swapped with any Burst 1 CDR (Cooldown Reduction), but substituting Helm Treasure is tough because she’s the only Nikke who dishes out great DPS while healing and generating bursts, all without significantly impacting the team’s overall DPS. If I were to look for alternatives, I’d opt for any off-burst healer that suits my playstyle.
Slot flexibility refers to the use of substitutional battle buffers, like Crown’s passive attack bonuses that aren’t linked to its burst, or any other character you prefer for secondary damage dealing.
Strengths
- Bready Has similar damage when compared to the previously hardest hitting water DPS, Quency Escape queen. Bready does however out-dps Quency: Escape Queen if there are no cores exposed
- Her overload statlines are not too strict, Bready just needs max ammo for more uptime. other usual DPS lines are still welcome of course.
- Not only Dough rises when she bakes
Weaknesses
- Essentially useless without distributed buffers or sustained damage buffers. Locked behind pretty much all other teams
- Bready has extremely high self buffs, to the point where outside buffs will be diluted, which isn’t currently a problem, but her damage ceiling is lower than other Nikkes of the same DPS tier currently for future purposes.
- Mediocre in PvP
- Probably the reason why server maintenance was extended TWICE
Should you pull?
If you’re a novice or any commander who doesn’t possess “Romantic Maid” or “Innocent Maid”, definitely not. However, save for Anniv 2.5, she’s on my wish list.
If you’re a dedicated free-to-play player focusing on solo raids and looking for a powerful water DPS, she could be worth acquiring due to her limited availability. While she’s particularly effective in solo raids, Bready is also part of one of the strongest water-weak bossing teams at the moment. She can be utilized against Harvester, Nihilister, or any other water weak boss, provided you have the Maid duos.
If you’re a wallpaper enjoyer, MLB Bready, SSS tier, use any means necessary.
Note: Bready was a must-pull before the nerfs, though.
