In an upcoming update scheduled for early September, Supercell unveils a fresh new logo for their hit game, Brawl Stars. The developers shared that the previous design was starting to appear outdated and overly complicated in comparison to contemporary titles, necessitating a revamp to more accurately reflect the essence of Brawl.
Why a logo refresh became necessary for Brawl Stars
The developers mentioned that the previous design failed to accurately convey the brand’s core. They pointed out that “Brawl is the heart of the brand and the most identifiable aspect of the game title,” but in the current logo, “the initial focus is actually the Stars because of their dominant color and font size.
The Brawl Stars emblem is due for a facelift with the upcoming update! ✨
The reason behind this change:
👉 The original logo seemed somewhat outdated and excessively intricate when compared to other brands sporting more contemporary designs.
👉 “Brawl” forms the heart of our brand identity, but it was not as prominently featured in…— Brawl Stars (@BrawlStars) August 23, 2025
They additionally noted that the logo’s intricacy presented difficulties, stating, “The original logo incorporated numerous distinct components which were difficult to decipher clearly across varying contexts and scales.” As a result, it lacked flexibility for applications such as advertisements, merchandise, collaborations, and other uses.
One contributing factor was that its outdated brand appearance made it less appealing compared to contemporary gaming brands, as they mentioned, “Competing for attention in the logo world can be tough, and the old logo design seemed rather outdated.” The stark contrast with the app icon, which heavily featured a skull, only served to highlight this inconsistency.
How the new logo addresses these issues while keeping the legacy alive
Although some fans are displeased with the fresh logo, it’s been crafted to tackle existing issues without abandoning the historical significance of Brawl Stars. The team explained, “We aimed to avoid a modification that would forsake the legacy symbolized by the previous logo,” emphasizing that this isn’t a rebrand, but an upgrade instead.
As a gamer, during the creative process, multiple iterations were put to the test, from subtle modifications to radical overhauls. To my delight, the developers shared that the ‘new logo emerged as the top performer and garnered the most favorable feedback from our testers.’ In fact, some players couldn’t help but think it was already the official one, given its seamless compatibility with the app’s existing logo.

Prior to confirming the update, the team tweaked some minor aspects of the triumphant design, ensuring that the essential characteristics of the logo remained consistent – specifically, keeping the skull motif, colors, and font style largely unchanged. However, I must admit that I prefer the original, current logo over this new design.
