Brawl Stars cosmetic system update brings major Bling changes, Shop revamp, and more

Story Highlights

  • Brawl Stars removes Bling purchases from Catalog and is introducing a new Shop system.
  • New Bling bundles offer skins, cosmetics, Starr Drops, and even progression rewards.

Brawl Stars is making big changes to how you get and use cosmetic items like skins and Bling. The developers recognize the current system isn’t perfect, particularly regarding skin value and Bling usage. The next update will introduce a completely redesigned cosmetic system, starting with updates to Bling, the Catalog, and the Shop. Let’s take a closer look at what’s new!

Brawl Stars aims to make cosmetics and Bling more meaningful with the upcoming changes

The creators of Brawl Stars recently shared on their blog that Bling was initially designed to let all players get cool cosmetic items. However, it seems this didn’t quite work out, and may have actually made those items feel less special overall.

We’re excited to announce some upcoming changes to Bling, the Catalog, and the Shop! Check out the full details in the in-game article, and let us know what you think in the comments!

Many players started collecting Bling in the game without actually using it, likely because the available skins weren’t very appealing anymore. I also agree that Bling often doesn’t feel like a great reward – especially for long-time players like myself who already have most of the skins, so new ones don’t feel as exciting.

Brawl Stars revamps Shop with Bling bundles and rotating Catalog skins

We’ve made a big change to how Bling works. You won’t be able to buy Bling directly from the Catalog anymore. Instead, you’ll find a new section in the Shop where you can use any Bling you’ve already saved. All the skins you love will still be available, but they’ll appear on a rotating basis instead of being constantly available in the Catalog.

Plus, the new Shop area will offer Bling bundles with a variety of items like Skins, Pins, profile pictures, Sprays, and even special boxes and Starr Drops. Here’s what’s really exciting about them:

  • A Tap to Reveal system that provides a few Bling for tapping.
  • Discounts ranging from 0 to 100%.
  • A chance to obtain Mythic and Legendary Skins.
  • You can pick certain rarity skins from a larger pool in some bundles.

I’m really excited about this change because Bling will help us improve our gameplay, not just how things look. I’m also looking forward to seeing the updated shop in the next Brawl Talk!

F2P reward sources adjustments

Besides them, the update is coming as a blessing to F2P players thanks to the following changes:

  • You’ll get a new Bling Mega Quest every season.
  • There will be more Bling in the free Brawl Pass track.
  • Though there will be lower chances of getting skins from Starr Drops, Chaos Drops, and Brawler Boxes.

Don’t worry too much about that third point. You’ll still get roughly the same number of skins, but you’ll have more say in which ones you get, thanks to the Bling bundles. I recommend holding onto your Bling for now, unless there’s a particular skin you’re really hoping to get.

And if you want to stock up Bling before the update, follow the given steps:
