Dani, serving as the Community Manager for Brawl Stars, spoke up to address the growing worries related to their recent Toy Story update. This update brought about the Brawl Stars X Toy Story Collaboration, the festive Brawlidays, the Pizza Planet Event, new characters like Buzz Lightyear, Hypercharges, skins, and numerous other modifications and repairs.

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that in the upcoming maintenance update, Buzz Lightyear‘s Laser and Saber modes will be balanced out, addressing a long-standing issue in the community. Furthermore, he also tackled other significant matters, such as modifications to the Surge Lightyear Skin, the introduction of a Skin Vault/Safe feature, and adjustments to the Brawlidays Calendar.

Dani addressed the concerns raised by the Brawl Stars Community

Daniel Medeiros, often referred to as Dani, the cherished Community Manager of Brawl Stars, recently stepped onto his platform (previously known as Twitter) to address the escalating worries within the community, particularly concerning Buzz Lightyear. In his recent update, he addressed a range of issues, including how Buzz Lightyear’s dominating abilities were negatively impacting games, the requirement to possess Surge to acquire the free Surge Lightyear Skin, the developers’ choice not to implement the Skin Vault/Safe feature, and modifications made to the Brawlidays Calendar.

Buzz Lightyear proved to be too overpowered for a Brawler

Furthermore, he mentioned that you can obtain the Brawler character called “Brawler” by using Pizza Slices during the “Pizza Planet event”. The skin for this character will be free for four months, giving you plenty of time to acquire the Brawler in different ways. He also noted that if you don’t want to grind or spend your Credits on another character called “Surge”, there will be a beneficial (Gem) offer available in the shop to get the Brawler instead.

Skin Vault/Safe feature utilization for Surge Lightyear Skin

Concerning the application of the Skin Vault/Safe function, he clarified that this tool was primarily designed for the Brawl Pass Skins, which made it challenging for developers to adjust or expand its capabilities swiftly in response to the current predicament, as it might necessitate extra days or even weeks of development time due to its existing structure.

He labeled the problem as an exceptional scenario considering Surge is a Legendary Brawler, explaining, “Previously, we addressed this issue by providing the Brawler ahead of time or giving a Free Skin to frequently used Brawlers.” Furthermore, he disclosed that the team also concurs that placing this skin in the Skin Vault would be more beneficial for those who do not possess the Brawler yet, suggesting, “This approach seems to be a far superior solution compared to all other options discussed.

Changes in the Brawlidays Calendar

Finally, he shared insights into the modifications made on the Brawlidays Calendar, clarifying that the initial version offered 20 extra Presents and a single fewer Legendary Starr drop – this was the original plan, but it got altered before its launch. The teams had prior knowledge of these changes due to miscommunication.

He outlined two main reasons regarding the changes, one being that the presents would have been way excessive, and the main reason being, that the primary intent of adding presents to the calendar was to build hype for the Mega Tree Present opening.

He continued explaining the intricacies of the game’s developer edition, where elements are still under development and may alter before they are released. Unfortunately, he noted that this particular feature was made public prematurely, as the live version hadn’t been launched yet, much like the Mecha Paladin Surge in Presents – It wasn’t the final version.

Time-limited events

Dani made clear that time-bound events are implemented to draw back old gamers and keep the game engaging, while also providing novelty. He emphasized that this specific event was pre-planned, even before modifying their content release schedule. He further mentioned that they had outlined it in their 2025 roadmap. In essence, he suggested we can expect a more harmonious blend of events and permanent elements in the upcoming year.
