Brawl Stars has unveiled its Season 38, accompanied by a temporary event titled the “Battle for Katana Kingdom”. This four-stage event, initially teased during the April Brawl Talk, introduces Wasabi Powers, exclusive rewards, themed costumes, fresh game modes, and other exciting features. So, let’s jump right in!
Battle for Katana Kingdom Event Overview
This occurrence stretches over four distinct segments, where each segment of the event lasts for a week within a single month. Each weekly installment will introduce fresh gameplay modes such as “Samurai Smash” and “Oni Hunt”, a fresh chapter in the comic book, and additional methods to earn “Sushi Rolls”. These rolls provide you with “Wasabi Powers”, cosmetics, and other rewards.
The four parts of the Battle for Katana Kingdom storyline are Path of the Wasabi, Emergence of the Futomaki Five, Craving for Retribution, and The Ultimate Decision.
This version uses simpler language and rephrases the original titles to make them more easily understood by a broader audience. The new titles are inspired by sushi rolls, which maintains the Japanese theme while making the names more relatable to readers who may not be familiar with traditional Japanese martial arts terminology.
Chapter 1: Way of the Wasabi
In the game right now, the initial chapter titled “The Wasabi Pathway” is operational, introducing Wasabi Abilities and Sushi Rolls. Throughout the entire week, players will also enjoy a boost with the Double Experience Weekend.

This fresh game mode, known as “Samurai Smash”, is another feature introduced. In this mode, you’ll engage in battles against Samurai robots and rival Brawlers. The objective is to vanquish them all to secure their golden Daruma dolls. You can participate in either three versus three or five versus five matches. By amassing 50 or 100 Dolls, you’ll emerge victorious from the battle.
Chapter 2: Rise of the Futomaki Five
Starting May 8th, I’ll be diving into the next exciting chapter titled “Rise of the Futomaki Five.” This new adventure features a revamped and playful version of an old favorite called “Mega Buffet,” which feels like playing with Mega Pig but with a fresh twist. Plus, it’s not just any ordinary week, it’s a “Mastery Madness Weekend” where I can really test my skills and push myself to the limit!

At the Mega Buffet, you can join forces with your fellow club members to conquer various game modes and increase the club’s victory tally. As you reach specific goals, every member in the club receives Sushi Rolls. Each day, you will be granted 4 Tickets , and any tickets left over will accumulate.
To get the prizes, you must provide a minimum of 3 victories, and once a goal is achieved, you can collect your rewards immediately. However, it’s unfortunate that those who contribute the most will not receive any extra rewards, which is disappointing.
Chapter 3: The Taste of Vengeance
In Chapter 4 titled “The Flavor of Retribution“, commences on May 15 within the game, ushering in a fresh Oni Pursuit game style, a series of complimentary items, and also a Double Experience Weekend. I am eagerly anticipating this novel game mode as it seems extremely engaging.

In the game titled “Oni Hunt“, you join forces with two other players to conquer the formidable demon, Kenji. However, overcoming him isn’t a walk in the park, as he employs various attacks, constantly modifies his assault strategies, and grows even stronger each time you manage to vanquish him.
Every day, you need to conquer all 5 levels of challenge, namely Normal, Hard, Expert, Master, and Insane. Overcoming these difficulties will grant you rewards for 7 days, including Sushi Rolls at the final two levels. Similar to Showdown, ensure that at least one teammate remains alive, as this allows others to respawn and continue the battle.
Chapter 4: The Final Cut
In the concluding part of the event, titled “The Final Cut,” commences on May 22nd. This finale will introduce Daily Competitions together with Double Starr Drops. Every day, you’ll be presented with three game modes or maps to select from, and you’ll then compete against other players who chose the same options, all vying for a spot on a 10-player leaderboard.

Every day, you’ll be given 4 tickets to participate in the event. The prize you earn will depend on your position on the leaderboard. Unfortunately, if you end up among the last two, there will be no prize for that specific day.
Brawl Stars Battle for Katana Kingdom: Wasabi Powers, Skins, and more
Wasabi Powers
A significant aspect of this gathering involves presenting a new feature called “Wasabi Powers.” These powers temporarily grant unique abilities to the Brawlers. If you recall, during the previous season themed “Angels vs Demons,” we also saw similar temporary enhancements. However, what sets this event apart is that these powers are specific to each Brawler.

It’s particularly noteworthy that there are a grand total of 60 unique Wasabi Powers available. These powers have four levels of rarity: Common (20 Hot), Uncommon (15 Extra Hot), Rare (15 Crazy Hot), and Super Rare (10 Inferno Wasabi Powers). Once you unlock any one of these, it will automatically be assigned to the specific Brawler in Wasabi modifier game modes.
Event-themed Skins
The game is offering a series of limited-edition Katana Kingdom costumes, available exclusively during this particular event and returning after a year. If you gather all 7 costumes from the set, you’ll receive a unique event spray as a bonus for completing the collection.

This collection boasts characters with a Japanese theme such as “Cursed Kenji”, “Tengu Angelo”, “Tanuki Sprout”, “Gray the Wanderer”, “Shukuteki Tara”, “Ash the Shinobi”, and the latest “Brawl Pass costume”. Additionally, you’ll find the “Kasa-obake Piper skins” in this lineup.
Sushi Rolls
During this occasion, Sushi Rolls function much like prized Starr Drops, serving as your primary method for gathering event rewards throughout the entire event. Each time you unwrap a Roll, you’ll receive at least one reward. Additionally, there’s a possibility that the Roll will divide into 1, 2, 4, or even 8 smaller Sushi pieces, increasing the number of rewards you receive.
It seems quite appealing to load up on as many Sushi Rolls as you can since this not only satisfies your appetite but also helps fill up the Sushi Meter. Once the meter is completely full, you’ll unlock the free character, Cursed Kenji, and the Oni Kenji Hypercharge skin, in addition to other prizes!
Great news! You have multiple opportunities to obtain Free Sushi Rolls daily, including through the Daily Win Rewards, Samurai Smash, Club Events, Oni Hunt Quests, Daily Contests, and from items available in the Shop. Moreover, we anticipate that Brawl Stars will continue to offer us even more Free Sushi Rolls in the future.
