Brandy got the call after all for the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot
As a die-hard fan who has been following the twists and turns of the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” franchise since its inception, I must say that this upcoming reboot is sending shivers down my spine! The prospect of seeing familiar faces like Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King alongside the original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. has me absolutely thrilled!
Keep an eye out for the upcoming remake of the horror classic, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” often referred to as a continuation or legacy sequel. Over the last few months, we’ve been gathering exciting updates about this much-anticipated movie, including the cast list, its placement in the “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series, its official release date, and whether any original actors will reprise their roles.
The main cast for the upcoming horror-thriller film includes Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are in talks to rejoin the cast. The movie will reference events from the 1998 sequel “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.” The film is set for release in theaters on July 18, 2025.
In July 2024, Brandy Norwood, who is both a singer and an actress, had a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter during the promotions for Disney+’s musical comedy “Descendants: The Rise of Red”. She was asked about her views on the reboot and whether she’d been contacted to resume her role as Karla from “I Still Know”. Brandy admitted that she wasn’t aware of the reboot and hadn’t received a call for a comeback. Yet, she expressed her readiness to return if given the opportunity, even playfully suggesting that Hewitt and Prinze Jr. should give her a ring since Karla was the only other character besides Hewitt’s Julie and Prinze Jr.’s Ray who survived in “I Still Know”.
It appears that Brandy indeed got the call for the reboot of the project she was asked about during an interview with Entertainment Tonight while promoting her A24 horror film “The Front Room”. She mentioned that discussions are taking place regarding her potential return, hinting at a possible comeback as Karla. Here’s hoping everything falls into place!
It seems as though they both yearn for each other’s company once more. In fact, Brandy expresses her desire for another collaboration with Hewitt, just like in the reboot, stating to ET that she hasn’t seen Julie for a while and is eager to catch up with her again.
