As a movie lover who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of reality TV, I have to say that Brandi Glanville‘s story is heart-wrenching and frustratingly perplexing. Having followed her journey on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” it’s disheartening to see her struggling with a mysterious condition that has left her in pain and isolation.

Doctors are stumped about what is plaguing Brandi Glanville.

During a Tuesday conversation with ET, the former star of “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” described the facial condition she’s been studying for a year as feeling akin to “something similar to childbirth or giving birth in my face.

According to Glanville, she’s been dealing with an unexplained illness that’s resulted in frequent facial swelling, difficulties speaking, lost teeth, and a discomfort when going out in public.

On Sunday, Brandi Glanville was taken to the hospital following a collapse at her residence. Currently, she’s on the road to recovery. Her son discovered her in distress and dialed 911 for assistance.

For the past year, I’ve been taking medication and have mostly stayed indoors without much social interaction or going out,” Glanville shared with ET. She added that her medical expenses, which include medications, doctor consultations, MRIs, X-rays, and CT scans, have climbed over $70,000. At one point, she was using costly IV antibiotics to manage her facial swelling, but found it difficult to continue with the treatment due to its high cost.

The host of “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered” mentioned that she has consulted various medical professionals, ranging from immunologists to rheumatologists and infectious disease specialists. Although no doctor has provided a conclusive answer, some have proposed that her health problems might originate from a recently discovered parasite.

Glanville explained to ET that she might have picked up the parasite during filming for “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” in Morocco in January 2023. While on set, she mentioned, “Food was left out for extended periods, and some of it was meat.

Six months after Glanville started experiencing facial swelling and speech difficulties, she expressed, “We’ve been trying to find answers ever since.

Bravo did not reply immediately Thursday to The Times’ request for comment.

The unbroadcasted fourth season of “The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” series was apparently cancelled. Bravo did not specify the reasons behind this decision, but during filming, it was reported that cast members Yolanda Hadid and Caroline Manzo abruptly left set due to an alleged incident.

In court documents obtained by The Times for review, it was reported that Manzo subsequently brought a legal case claiming that Glanville had been harassing her during the previous year’s filming.

In recent years, Glanville’s health problems along with the legal action by Manzo have hindered her from accepting new job opportunities.

Typically, I’m the go-to person for Bravo jobs,” she expressed. “However, currently, I find myself in a unique situation where I resemble more of a scarlet letter and have certain medical constraints. Even if I were able to work, my face seems to be performing its own dance routine.

As a cinephile putting it in my own words, Glanville mentioned that the medical interventions have been minimally invasive up until now, but there might be a need for surgery down the line. Contrary to what some people seem to think, I haven’t undergone any facial plastic surgery thus far.

“I can’t afford it if I wanted it,” she said.
