Brad Pitt gave a sweet shoutout to his mother Jane Etta Pitt just weeks before her death.
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Jane, a former school counselor who had retired, passed away at the age of 84, according to her family.
And Pitt recently gushed about his mother during the promo tour for his latest film, F1.
In that June episode of Today, he made this revelation to host Savannah Guthrie, as it turned out that Jane was watching the morning program from her own residence.
He shared that he needed to greet his mother since she regularly tunes in to see him each morning, and he flashed a grin from ear to ear before waving to her.
Then, he blew a kiss to the camera before adding: ‘To Jane Pitt. Love you, Mom.’

His endearing nod to his mom came over a month before her passing on Wednesday.
Originating from Memphis, Tennessee in 1940, Jane Etta Pitt was once an elementary school teacher who later crossed paths with her future spouse, William (Brad’s father), at Oklahoma Baptist University, as mentioned in an obituary provided by the Springfield News-Leader.
The pair got married back in 1962 and went on to bring up Brad, Doug, and Julie in the town of Springfield, Missouri, as reported by the local media.
For several years, Pitt’s parents, who ran a local business in Springfield, frequently accompanied him on high-profile movie premieres in Hollywood, demonstrating their unwavering support.
In the year 2014, both of his parents were present at the first showing of the movie Unbroken, which was directed by Angelina Jolie – Pitt’s former spouse at that time.
In 2012, his mother likewise garnered media attention as the Springfield News-Leader published an opinion piece she wrote, advocating for Christians to cast their votes for Mitt Romney in the presidential election, according to ABC News.
Earlier that year, Pitt told The Hollywood Reporter that his mom is ‘very, very loving.’

He shared with the media that he found it amusing, since she is often portrayed negatively in gossip magazines as a wicked woman, but in reality, there is absolutely no ill intent in her actions.
He also said that his mother is ‘very open, genuine’ and ‘wants everyone to be happy.’
In a heart-wrenching social media post on Wednesday, Pitt’s beloved niece, Sydney (who is also Jane’s grandchild), confirmed the sad news of Jane’s passing at the age of 84, expressing the grief felt within their family.
Sydney, the daughter of Doug (Pitt’s younger brother), expressed heartfelt sentiments about her ‘dear Grammy’, stating: “Although we weren’t prepared for you to leave us yet, knowing that you can now sing, dance, and paint freely once more brings some comfort.
Should you have met Grammy, you’d realize her heart was immense. Her compassion knew no bounds; she showed deep concern for all, without a moment’s hesitation.
She showed me the art of painting, instilled strength within me, guided me towards leading with compassion, encouraged me to express love for Jesus consistently, and helped me discover happiness even in minor occurrences.
She would invent the funniest games to amuse us, and she always valued fairness, considering others before herself, and doing what was morally correct.
She added Jane ‘could keep up with all 14 of us grandkids without missing a beat.

‘There was no limit to the love she gave, and everyone who met her felt it,’ Sydney continued.
We seem lost without her presence, yet it feels as though she remains with us through each artwork, act of kindness, and even the sighting of a hummingbird. Her essence was an embodiment of pure love.
Growing up, we felt incredibly fortunate to have her in our lives to cherish. And I firmly believe that her spirit continues to live within all of us.
Jane is survived by husband William Alvin Pitt, three children and 14 grandchildren.
Her son Doug, along with his spouse Lisa, has Sydney, Landon, and Regan. On the other hand, their daughter Julie is a mom to Caleb, twins Josie and Rylie, as well as adopted sons Caden and Cruz, who she shares with her partner Scott Neal.
Pitt is the father of Shiloh (age 19), twins Vivienne and Knox (age 17), as well as three children they adopted together with his former wife, Angelina Jolie: Maddox (age 24), Pax (age 21), and Zahara (age 20).
Since a heated argument on a private jet in 2016 led to Angelina, aged 49, filing for divorce, there has been a rift between him and his children. Recently, sources revealed to the Daily Mail that his parents have been deeply saddened for not getting to see their grandchildren for eight long years.
Brad Pitt’s representatives declined to comment when contacted by the Daily Mail.
