Brad Pitt pops champagne with Javier Bardem and gets behind the wheel at Formula One race while filming F1
As a longtime fan of high-octane action movies and the glamorous world of Formula One racing, I must say that Brad Pitt’s latest project, “F1,” has piqued my interest like never before. With his illustrious career spanning over three decades, it’s clear that Mr. Pitt knows a thing or two about delivering exhilarating performances and transporting audiences to breathtaking locales.
Brad Pitt took advantage of a real life race to work on his art on Sunday in Abu Dhabi.
60-year-old actor, who’s currently filming sequences for his movie F1 in the UAE, donned a crisp white racing suit at the Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
In the racing pit, Pitt could be spotted donning protective gear for the shoot, which included a fire-resistant hood that concealed much of his head and facial area.
He then donned a helmet as he prepared to get behind the wheel in front of a real racing audience.
Thousands of spectators gathered at the raceway got to be extras in the big screen drama.
The main character, Pitt, returns from retirement and takes on the role of both mentor and teammate for a rising racer.
The Oscar winner was spotted walking on to the track with co-star Damson Idris, 33.
The actor looked handsome standing next to Pitt costumed in a team uniform.
A Nigerian-British actor was thrilled with the day’s tasks and posted a lively video on social networks, which he titled “Race Day Baby.
It seems he was so thrilled that he accidentally overlooked pressing the ‘record’ button on his phone, requiring him to capture everything once more.
‘It wasn’t recording,’ he said laughingly to the hair and makeup crew.
‘Take two,’ said one of the women.
‘Now it’s recording,’ Idris said as he danced in his chair, adding a big ‘Whoo!’
Jerry Bruckheimer, as the producer, has left no stone unturned to guarantee that viewers will feel immersed in a genuine Formula One atmosphere when they visit cinemas.
He shared with The National that F1’s production has been unusually lengthy due to the two Hollywood strikes that occurred in 2023 (the Writers Strike and Actors Strike).
‘But the combination of Apple Studios and their technology – they created two special cameras mounted on actual F1 cars for this movie, which is amazing – is going to make this the most accurate racing movie ever made,’ he contended.
The legendary producer revealed that the Abu Dhabi track was the last place they would be shooting on location for the film.
To wrap things up, I’ve had the pleasure of exploring approximately nine racing venues, and the final stop on my tour is none other than Abu Dhabi. I must say, the hospitality here has been truly exceptional.
Bruckheimer shared that the Yas Marina Circuit is simply fantastic, with the residents of Abu Dhabi being incredibly kind and delightful towards them.
As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but gush about the warm reception we’ve received! They’ve rolled out the red carpet for our production, making it effortless for us to capture our scenes right here. It feels like they’ve welcomed us into their own backyard, and we couldn’t be more grateful!
Lewis Hamilton, featured in the film and also a producer, has strived to create an authentic experience.
Hamilton provided feedback on certain aspects of it, offering insights into the actual driving techniques that he observes. This was shared by Bruckheimer during the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix in October.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but marvel at the intricate details he shares. For instance, at Silverstone’s turn three, he shifts gears to second, and his expertise allows him to discern, even from a distance, that we were in third gear at Pitt. It is this precise level of detail that he has masterfully infused into the movie, making it all the more captivating.
In an effort to maintain an authentic atmosphere, Pitt and his fellow actor, Javier Bardem (portraying the racing team’s owner in F1), were accompanied by actual racers Charles LeClerc and George Russell during what seemed like a triumphant celebration scene.
Pitt popped some champagne and Bardem, costumed in a navy blue suit, held a trophy.
Celebrities like Uma Thurman and Jared Leto were spotted arriving at the racetrack for the event.
Thurman, 54, looked elegant in a light weight tan jacket and matching pants with a black T-shirt.
Her long, blond hair was pulled back from her face and she wore natural looking makeup.
In a casual, translucent black top that accentuated his well-defined abs, Jared Leto, aged 52, exuded an air of relaxation, complementing the look with a pair of black trousers and matching footwear.
His long, dark hair was parted in the middle and brushed straight and he wore dark sunglasses.
The Oscar winner shared a few shots from the stands on his Instagram Stories. ‘Fun day at F1. Thanks @etihad for having me, he wrote on one snap. ‘Best view,’ he penned on the other.
The race is on to get F1 ready for theaters. The film was scheduled for release June 27, 2025.
