Brad Pitt ‘has sued ex-wife Angelina Jolie for $35 million in damages’ amid their ongoing legal battle over Château Miraval

The legal battle between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie has intensified, with new claims that Pitt is suing Jolie for $35 million. This comes after Pitt sought to make previously private communications between the two public.

The Academy Award-winning actor is locked in a contentious legal battle with Jolie over the sale of their large French winery, Château Miraval, which they purchased together in 2011 for around $60 million.

Angelina Jolie, age 50, filed for divorce from Brad Pitt in 2019. She is now being accused of violating an earlier agreement that prevented either of them from selling their property without the other’s permission.

I was shocked to learn, through recently released court documents, that Brad Pitt is suing Angelina Jolie! Apparently, back in November 2023, their lawyers were exchanging emails, and it’s come out that Brad is seeking $35 million from her as a result of whatever transpired. These documents were just filed on October 29th and PEOPLE managed to get a hold of them – it’s all so messy and sad to see.

According to court documents, Mr. Pitt is claiming Ms. Jolie caused significant costs during their production, and he is seeking $35 million in damages as a result.

Because of this, he’s responsible for the cost of gathering documents to prove – or disprove – those damages.

Jolie’s lawyers sent an email in October 2023 stating that he planned to sue for continued financial losses related to the way Miraval was being run.

Her statements also referenced Pitt’s ongoing unwillingness to share documents explaining why he signed a four-year non-disclosure agreement about his personal behavior, emphasizing that these documents are central to the case and need to be released.

Angelina Jolie has stated that Brad Pitt once asked her to sign a strict confidentiality agreement. This agreement, she claims, would have stopped her from publicly discussing alleged abuse – both verbal and physical – directed towards her and their children during a 2016 flight on a private jet.

Brad Pitt and his lawyers have stated the non-disclosure agreement was a typical measure to protect business interests during the sale of Miraval.

In 2022, the actor sued Jolie, alleging she violated their agreement by selling her share of their property to Tenute del Mondo, which is part of the Stoli Group wine company.

Jolie later denied that any agreement was made before the sale and filed her own lawsuit against her ex-husband.

The actress declined to share previously unseen messages related to the sale and its aftermath, citing attorney-client privilege. This led Pitt to request a court order to release 22 of those documents, which he filed on October 29th.

According to a court filing, the Oscar-winning actor’s lawyers claim Jolie is improperly using legal procedures to hide important documents related to the case.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie first became acquainted while filming the 2005 movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith, where they played a married couple of assassins. At the time, Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have six children: Maddox, age 24; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and 17-year-old twins, Vivienne and Knox.

After an eleven-year relationship and five years of marriage, the couple split in 2016. Their divorce was finalized eight years later after a complicated legal process.

According to Paul Murphy, Jolie’s lawyer, Brad Pitt’s latest legal filing fails to respond to their points and keeps using guesses and assumptions, all in an attempt to access private conversations between Jolie and her legal team.

This situation further demonstrates that Mr. Pitt has been trying to harass and control Angelina for years, and this lawsuit is a result of that. We anticipate the next court hearing.

A public hearing is scheduled for December 17.
