Brad Pitt dishes on ‘gay experience’ in most candid interview ever amid Ines de Ramon romance

Brad Pitt has opened up about his sexuality in his most candid interview ever.

61-year-old Oscar winner, who is presently in a relationship with Ines de Ramon (32 years old), mentioned during a recent interview on the Armchair Expert that he had “passed up the opportunity” when it came to having experiences related to being gay, playfully dismissing friend Dax Shepard’s suggestion.

Speaking about his encounter with Shepard at an Alcoholics Anonymous gathering, Pitt shared that he and his sibling were often taunted with the term ‘gay’ and endured cruel, homophobic insults as children.

Shepard asked: ‘Since that’s how we first crossed paths, does it give you any apprehension?’ To which Pitt playfully replied: ‘You’re referring to romantic or physical attraction, right?’

Later on, he mentioned: “I should tell you, I’ve never been involved in relationships with men. I believe my opportunity for such experiences has passed. However, let me make this clear – it’s not about you.

Shepard responded: ‘Oh man, you had me. I was like, “Wow, he’s going to say it.’

Pitt replied:'[You’d be] maybe 14th, or 15th.

Shepard casually mentioned, “I don’t wish to boast, but I think it’s important for you to gradually get used to my abilities.” He suggested, “Perhaps we should begin with a few warm-up exercises.

In another part of our conversation, the F1 champion confessed that he felt a need for a fresh start or reset after the unfortunate ending of his second marriage.

He admitted that he was eagerly willing to explore any suggestions or help from others, as he had reached a point where he felt overwhelmed and vulnerable,” he reminisced, after discovering the harsh truth that he needed to make significant changes in certain aspects of his life.

He continued: ‘It was a difficult time. I needed rebooting.’ 

The remark might be interpreted as a subtly coded allusion to his former partner, Jennifer Aniston, who previously employed a digital chip metaphor to describe Brad Pitt’s character traits.

Jennifer Aniston, who was married to Brad Pitt between 2000 and 2005, previously commented on his approach to their separation by saying that he seemed to lack a ‘compassionate empathy sensor’.

During his time at AA, Pitt expressed that he felt apprehensive about speaking up, finding inspiration in the openness with which everyone shared their personal experiences.

He said that it allowed him the freedom to say, “Alright, I’ll take a leap and find out,” to which he became deeply fond of.

In a subsequent statement, Pitt commended Shepard, who managed sobriety for an impressive 16 years until his 2020 relapse, for consistently being “extremely candid.

The father-of-six, noted that it ‘meant a lot’ to him to hear Shepard share his journey publicly. 

Pitt commented, “Dax often finds himself towards the end due to his long-standing presence,” then jokingly referred to Shepard, aged 50, as a seasoned veteran, blending ‘wit’ with his accumulated knowledge, akin to an ‘elder statesman’.

Pitt found it astonishing that men were openly discussing their flaws, mistakes, desires, pains, and adding humor to it.

Raised in Oklahoma and Missouri, this actor shared his upbringing was surrounded by men who were typically optimistic, rarely expressing complaints or concerns about their circumstances.

Earlier, Pitt admitted that he chose to join Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) following a period where he pushed the limits, eventually choosing to abstain from alcohol.

In an interview with The New York Times back in 2019, I shared my personal experience of finding immense worth in Alcoholics Anonymous.

He mentioned that it felt liberating, as this environment offered minimal criticism, implying self-criticism too. Essentially, it allowed him to reveal his less attractive aspects openly. (At the given time)

The handsome star from Hollywood openly confessed that he had battled not just alcohol, but other vices as well in his past.

In my journey as a lifestyle expert, I can confidently share that, similar to many others who have experienced sudden fame, Pitt admitted to turning towards marijuana during the ’90s as a means of coping with the overwhelming attention he received following his meteoric rise in Hollywood. The limelight, indeed, proved to be quite challenging for him, stating that it truly disrupted his equilibrium.

‘I really became a bit of a hermit and just bonged myself into oblivion.’

In 2020, Pitt also credited Bradley Cooper with helping him to overcome his battles with addiction.

At the National Board Of Review awards ceremony, the actor gratefully acknowledged that Bradley Cooper had played a significant role in helping him achieve sobriety. Since then, he shared, each day has brought even more happiness to his life.

Pitt decided to pursue sobriety after his split from Jolie. 

Brad and Angelina’s ugly divorce battle finally ended in December 2024 after she filed in 2016.

In 2014, the former spouses who have a combined total of six children – Maddox (age 23), Pax (age 21), Zahara (age 20), Shiloh (age 19), Knox (age 16), and Vivienne (also age 16) – tied the knot, having initially met while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith in 2005.

He is currently dating jewelry executive Ines de Ramon, who resides with him in Los Angeles.
