Boyzone documentary first look: Louis Walsh’s shocking reaction to Stephen Gately’s coming out is revealed as Ronan Keating breaks down in tears

As a die-hard fan, I can’t contain my excitement over the fresh glimpse into Boyzone’s life story through their upcoming documentary, “No Matter What.” Watching the trailer, I found myself drawn in by the raw emotion of Louis Walsh as he reacts to Stephen Gately bravely coming out. The journey of Boyzone is one that I’ve followed closely, and this documentary promises to unveil even more captivating moments.

On February 2nd, a three-part documentary series, set to air on Sky Documentaries and NOW, offers viewers an inside look into the life and times of an Irish band that rose to fame in 1993 but disbanded after seven years, featuring aspects such as their rise to stardom, disagreements, and unfortunate events.

A significant portion of the program will delve into the time when the late celebrity, Stephen, who tragically passed away at the age of 33 in October 2009, made his public announcement about being gay. This revelation was necessitated after a media outlet presented him with an ultimatum.

In a brief two-minute video, Louis, aged 72, can be seen grinning as he reminisces about the attention generated by Stephen’s confession. He seems delighted that the revelation graced ‘the headlines’.

Keith Duffy remembered that it was truly shocking, almost scandalous, how the newspaper had dealt with the late singer.

At the moment, Ronan, aged 47, is seen shedding tears as he remembers the painful incident when the band learned about Stephen’s demise. Later, it was disclosed that his death was a result of pulmonary oedema, which stemmed from an unidentified heart condition.

Apart from Ronan and Louis, the remaining members – Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, and Mikey Graham – also share their experiences as they reflect on being part of one of the most prominent pop bands in the 90s.

Reflecting on the start of our journey, I can’t help but recall that we were more like a group of enthusiastic youngsters than seasoned professionals. There was certainly no polish or perfection about us back then.

In a different wording: Louis, their guiding force, commented: ‘I have a fondness for regular folks, as they tend to work diligently. They are also willing to comply with your wishes initially.’

In the video, I found myself making one of many remarks directed towards the band, given our ongoing tussle with their lead vocalist, Ronan.

In that captivating sneak peek, I couldn’t help but squeal at the sight of the legendary Louis, aged 48! He shared a tantalizing tidbit about our collaboration, mentioning he had sworn to deliver the ‘sun, moon, and stars.’ Oh, how I can’t wait to see what magical moments we’ll create together!

Instead of boasting that he was behind the band’s massive promotion, Louis jokingly commented: “They were fooled by their own fame. They overlooked the fact that I composed it.

In another part of the video, Ronan mentions that it had been four years since he last talked to his bandmate Mikey during the filming.

Mikey shared his longing to escape the public eye and distance himself from that harmful atmosphere.

The Boyzone: No Matter What documentary offers an overview of one of the most renowned and iconic boybands ever, revealing that despite their extraordinary success, personal strife such as conflict, rivalry, betrayal, and tragedy ultimately contributed to their disbandment.

Currently, after three decades have passed, the surviving four members – Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch, and Michael ‘Mikey’ Graham, along with their former manager Louis Walsh, share the authentic story behind their journey, detailing their incredible triumphs during their rapid ascent to stardom, as well as the personal sacrifices they each made as part of a boyband.

After a year has passed, Louis shared his genuine emotions about Boyzone during his time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, as depicted in the subsequent documentary.

Speaking about the achievements he’s most proud of in his career, Louis remarked, “To be honest, I feel fortunate just to still be employed. I feel fortunate that my initial opportunity came with Boyzone, which set my path in motion.

His comments follow a few days since Ronan, aged 47, criticized his previous manager Louis, labeling him as a “jealous troublemaker” in an outburst filled with strong language.

In the latest Celebrity Big Brother episode, I found myself in a fortunate position, having been given an opportunity to work with the Irish boyband, Westlife, consisting of Keith Duffy, Stephen Gately, Mikey Graham, Shane Lynch, and Ronan.

The music manager further explained that Simon Cowell significantly impacted his life by giving him an opportunity to work on several of his ventures, such as the X Factor.

He went on to say, “Meeting Simon Cowell transformed my life; we’ve accomplished numerous projects together. To be honest, I feel incredibly fortunate to have a career, and I’m grateful that I’m able to keep going without any issues!

Last week, X Factor judge Louis was heard using a derogatory term for Ronan, calling him a “jerk,” during the live broadcast of the ITV reality show to millions of viewers.

Boyzone: No Matter What  air Sunday 2 February on Sky Documentaries and streaming service NOW.
