As a lifelong fan of pop music, I can truly appreciate the depth and passion that Boy George has for his idols, particularly David Bowie. His limited-edition collection, Fame, is a testament to the powerful influence these musical legends had on him and countless others.

As a die-hard admirer, I couldn’t help but be captivated by Boy George’s stylish presence in his sleek all-black attire. It was nothing short of thrilling to witness this iconic figure celebrating the unveiling of his exclusive art collection.

On Thursday at Castle Fine Art gallery in London, the 63-year-old musician was found in high spirits, engaging in lively conversations and laughter with attendees.

The ex-Culture Club member wore an eccentric black ensemble featuring loose pants and a coat with silver zipper accents.

He put on a pair of thick, black boots featuring unmatched red and yellow shoelaces, along with his distinctive large-brimmed bowler hat.

In his classic dramatic style, he opted for pink and purple eyeshadow and dark pink lipstick.

At the debut of his artwork assembly, featuring depictions of music legends such as David Bowie, Madonna, and Prince, the musician was accompanied by his old friend, Lizzie Cundy.

The TV personality, 56, put on a very busty display as she arrived at the gallery.

In a revealing ensemble comprising a deep-cut red lace bodysuit and a short black leather skirt, the ex-WAG made no secret of her style.

She put her long legs on display in a pair of knee-high black leather boots and kept warm with a fur-collared black jacket.

The star finished off her look with a matching cherry red clutch bag.

The singer earlier posed inside the gallery along with some of his maximalist paintings.

Donning a black jacket boasting a broad lapel, a stylish black and pink floral-patterned shirt, and a vibrant hot pink hat, Boy George articulated his desire for maximum freedom while creating art.

He expressed: ‘I have no specific guidelines for my actions. Power doesn’t necessarily come from complexity; in fact, it often lies in the simplest of ideas – those that resonate the strongest.’

In the exclusive, newly released collection called Fame, Boy George delved into the role of being a renowned musician through a set of intriguing mixed-media silkscreens. He showcased various iconic pop music figures from his past, including David Bowie, who significantly inspired him to embark on his musical journey at an early age.

The star shared that he aimed to recruit these musicians, as they played a significant role in furthering his own music journey.

In my own words, I’d express it as: ‘Certainly, I’ve got personal heroes who aren’t necessarily well-known. They could be anyone that has inspired me or resonated with me in some way. Looking back, I have a newfound admiration for many of the individuals I’ve encountered throughout my life. At the time, I may not have fully appreciated their value, or perhaps we didn’t see eye to eye! But over time, I’ve come to realize that people can become iconic.’

This isn’t the first time Boy George has discussed his love for the Starman singer.

Previously, during a segment on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on NBC, he confessed that he had been following his deceased role model.

On the television program, the performer revealed that he has a tattoo of David Bowie’s name, as he is set to star in the Broadway production of Moulin Rouge.

Jimmy, 49, asked if he ever got to hangout with Bowie.

When I was 19 years old, I encountered David Bowie at a nightclub where I worked. He dropped by to scout for individuals for his “Ashes to Ashes” music video. Unfortunately, I didn’t manage to impress him that evening. However, the following night, I bumped into him again at another club, and he told me I resembled his friend Klaus Nomi. Given my belief that I was incredibly unique back then, I felt enraged by this comparison!

Later on, Boy George recognized who Klaus Nomi was, and he exclaimed, “Wow, what a privilege!” in reference to the ’70s East Village artist who collaborated with Bowie.

When I became well-known, there was a time I encountered him in an upscale lounge in Australia. At that moment, I was still quite new to fame. I remember thinking to myself, “Am I permitted to approach Bowie? And how should I engage with someone of his stature?” Because as a 10-year-old, I used to hang out outside his house.

As an ardent admirer, I’d eagerly confess that I, much like countless other devotees, would often dream of planting myself outside the abode of the legendary Bowie, donning my vibrant blue bowler hat as a beacon of our shared fandom, while clad in a sharp black suit.

Boy George noted, speaking of Bowie after his passing in 2016 at the age of 69, that if he had appeared, all he was curious about were the kind of shoes Bowie might have been wearing.

‘Did you ever see him?’ Jimmy asked.

Boy George stated, ‘No, however, I recall an instance where Angie Bowie exclaimed for everyone to leave through an open window, albeit not in a cordial manner. Despite her unfriendly tone, we found it somewhat exhilarating.’

The artwork collection will go on sale from 8am on 25th October 2024.
