Bowen Yang apologizes to Ariana Grande over THAT passionate SNL kiss
As I delve deeper into the captivating world of entertainment, I find myself utterly enamored by the extraordinary journey of Ariana Grande. Her life is a testament to resilience, talent, and the power of friendship.
On the Saturday Night Live episode on October 12th, Bowen Yang expressed regret and apologized to Ariana Grande for talking excessively during their passionate kiss, as it may have gone beyond what was appropriate.
On a recent episode of his Las Culturistas podcast, held on Wednesday, the comedian, aged 34, who shares the screen with the singer from The Boy Is Mine, aged 31, in an upcoming Wicked musical movie, apologized to the actress.
In one of the drawings, Grande illustrated a mother encountering her son’s partner (Yang) for the very first time.
Following a friendly display of competition during a round of charades, the duo exchanged a tender kiss, a moment that later became a topic for discussion on Bowen’s podcast as Ariana was his special guest.
In a heartfelt manner, I feel compelled to express my regrets to you personally. It seems I may have overstepped boundaries during our passionate moment on Saturday Night Live, as I might have spoken more than intended while we shared that kiss.
Grande concurred with Yang and conveyed, “Indeed, you did. It left me quite shaken, not in a negative sense, but rather in an unexpected or disconcerting manner.
He apologized to the former Nickelodeon star once again and said with a laugh, ‘I’m so sorry. I kissed you too much.’
Ariana notably helped pen the skit – which is partially based on her own mother named Diane.
In that moment, it seemed to me like exactly what they were yearning for. I wholeheartedly support providing them with just that.
Originally, the sketch didn’t include the kiss, but during our rehearsals, an idea popped up in my mind.
In a moment of contemplation, I found myself pondering, “If everyone might perceive me as overly eccentric or content, what a hilarious twist it would be if we shared a kiss at the finale?” However, outwardly, I kept quiet.
And coincidentally, the SNL comedian had the same idea as the We Can’t Be Friends hitmaker.
Later on, Bowen sends me a message saying, “Just wanted to let you know, it’s all good if this seems too far-fetched, but during our chat, we found ourselves musing about the idea of sharing a kiss at the end. Funny enough, that was exactly what I had been pondering as well!
She had previously hosted a sketch comedy series in 2016, and her recent appearance was her second time serving as host.
During her second appearance on SNL, Ariana expressed that she had an absolutely fantastic time and would have eagerly continued performing even if they had to start all over again at 1 a.m.
I truly cherish being in that place. Everyone there holds a special place in my heart. I couldn’t have asked for a more delightful, wonderful experience spending time with all of them.
In simpler terms, Grande said, ‘Tackling big, thrilling tasks might seem frightening or overwhelming at times. However, holding onto excitement and appreciation can transform your perspective and make the whole adventure less intimidating and more enjoyable instead.’
In previous instances, Bowen and Ariana collaborated on SNL. For example, it was during her stint as the musical guest earlier this year, in March.
The pair also star in Wicked, with Grande portraying the character of Glinda and Yang playing Pfannee.
The upcoming theater release of our predicted musical version, featuring Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey, is scheduled for November 22 this month.
Outside of their filming duties, both Bowen and Ariana have formed a strong bond of friendship as well, a fact that Yang shared during an interview with The New Yorker last September.
During the production of Wicked in England, the comedian found himself frequently traveling back to New York City for Saturday Night Live commitments, a schedule that ultimately strained his mental well-being.
In a somewhat casual manner, I might say: ‘It sounds a bit star-struck to mention this, but Ariana Grande genuinely cared and said, “Hey, how are you? Want to come over and watch a movie? I want to help you feel better.” She truly stood by me in a supportive way.’
Additionally, Ariana shared with the media outlet, “I know how it feels to constantly travel and then need to perform immediately after, without giving my body or mind a chance to catch up.
It’s quite challenging and out of the ordinary, so I merely wanted to confirm that he received understanding, comfort, and the necessary support.
As Wicked is set to hit theaters in just a few weeks, Grande has been actively promoting the film during a media tour.
Lately, while in Australia, she made it public on Instagram that she is dating her colleague, Ethan Slater, whom she is also romantically involved with.
As an over-the-moon fan, I couldn’t help but share this snapshot I came across! It’s a sneaky peek taken from behind the actress and Slater, capturing them casually strolling down a set of stairs together.
In the end credits of Wicked, it was disclosed that she had reverted to her birth name Ariana Grande-Butera as a form of paying tribute to her younger self.
