Boss Team Games to develop two new video games based on the 1978 slasher Halloween

As a lifelong horror enthusiast who has watched every single “Halloween” film multiple times and even dressed as Michael Myers for three Halloweens, I can hardly contain my excitement about these upcoming video game adaptations! I remember playing the original 1983 Atari 2600 game with bated breath, hoping to recapture the terror of the silver screen.

Can you believe it? Another video game is being made based on a popular horror film franchise, and this time it’s the iconic Halloween series! The gaming company Boss Team Games, known for their survival horror title Evil Dead: The Game, is currently working on two new video games inspired by John Carpenter’s 1978 classic slasher flick, Halloween. Learn more about these upcoming game adaptations in the following details.

Not one but two new video games based on the iconic Halloween movie are coming up! Back in 1983, Wizard Video brought us a horror game adaptation for Atari 2600, which was itself inspired by the original 1978 horror classic. Now, it’s time to get excited for these two upcoming games!

The games underway are said to receive assistance from the creators of the Halloween series. Interestingly, Carpenter himself is rumored to be deeply engaged in the development process for one of these games, which leverages Unreal Engine 5 as its underlying technology. Notably, both projects are being handled in collaboration with Compass International Pictures and Further Front.

Although details about the plots of the forthcoming Halloween video games are yet undisclosed, an official communique from IGN hints that they will enable players to reenact scenes from the movie and control characters iconic in one of the most seminal horror films – Halloween. This implies gamers will have a chance to embody Laurie Strode, the famous babysitter portrayed by Jamie Lee Curtis in the 1978 slasher flick. Fingers crossed for an opportunity to play as The Shape, or Michael Myers, the infamous figure armed with a knife.

A carpenter shared his eagerness towards the upcoming “Halloween” video game releases, as he spoke about it with IGN. Have a look at what he had to say below.

As a huge gamer myself, I’m thrilled to help bring Michael Myers to life again in this game, and my hope is to scare you silly.

John Carpenter

Steve Harris, CEO of Boss Team Games, additionally talked about teaming up with Carpenter and the creators of Halloween to develop the games.

Everyone at Boss Team Games are huge fans of horror and Halloween obviously holds a special place in the hearts of all horror fans. Getting to work with iconic characters like Michael Myers and build on John Carpenter’s original vision is literally a dream come true. Everyone at Boss Team is thrilled and honored to be working with Malek Akkad and John Carpenter to deliver a one-of-a-kind experience that fans of the movie and video games will love.
