Borderlands is now available to watch at home

As a die-hard fan of both video games and movies, I’ve seen my fair share of adaptations that fall short of the mark – but “Borderlands” might just take the cake! After a dismal box office run, Lionsgate has finally made it available for home viewing, which is a silver lining in an otherwise gloomy cloud.

It’s reasonable to conclude that the film adaptation of Borderlands didn’t perform well in cinemas. However, with its release for home viewing, there’s a possibility that its fortunes could turn around now.

Three weeks following its cinematic debut, Lionsgate has now made the video game adaptation available for digital streaming, having earned a total of $15.3 million in the U.S. and $26.2 million globally so far.

Instead of being a direct result of its poor ticket sales, it’s worth noting that other Lionsgate films, like “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” and “The Strangers: Chapter 1“, have also been made available digitally just weeks after their cinema debut. This suggests a possible shift in strategy by the studio, rather than a reaction to poor box office performance.

To determine if the film was more deserving of a higher rating, consider purchasing or renting the movie titled “Borderlands” on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, and various other digital distributors available in the U.S.

As of now, Lionsgate hasn’t specified a digital release date for the movie “Borderlands” in the United Kingdom. However, you can expect the UK release to come later compared to its digital release in the U.S.

While you’re holding out for it, consider reserving your copy of Borderlands on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K Ultra HD before its official launch in the UK. Similar to the digital version, Lionsgate hasn’t announced a specific release date as of now.

There’s also a limited-edition 4K Steelbook available to pre-order.

Prior to its debut, the video game Borderlands received a low score of 7% on Rotten Tomatoes based on its initial 55 critic reviews.

10% is now its rating, having dropped significantly from its initial 152 reviews. This new score represents one of the lowest points in Cate Blanchett’s career, as well as for director Eli Roth, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Kevin Hart based on their other works.

In the United States, you can either purchase or rent Borderlands on Prime Video, iTunes, and several other platforms. However, a digital release date for the UK has not been announced as of now.
