Booster Gold: DCU TV Show Finds Acclaimed Showrunner

The Booster Gold series from DC Studios has recently seen significant advancement, subtly hinting at the ongoing development of their DC Universe venture. This news follows a gap of more than two years since the initial announcement made by James Gunn.

Who is the showrunner for the Booster Gold DCU show?

As reported by Deadline, David Jenkins, the brain behind Our Flag Means Death, has been selected to write the pilot episode for the much-anticipated Booster Gold series. If the project secures a green light from HBO Max and proceeds to full series production, Jenkins will assume the role of showrunner.

The upcoming HBO Max series falls under DCU’s initial phase titled “Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.” As of now, there’s no confirmed start date or cast associated with this project. Previously, Kumail Nanjiani, who starred in Eternals, was speculated to play the lead role. Director James Gunn mentioned that the reason for the delay in Booster Gold show is because he wouldn’t initiate production unless the scripts meet his desired standards.

Right from the start, I’ve emphasized that at DC, we will only proceed with filming once the screenplays and teleplays are fully prepared. I won’t begin shooting until I’m completely satisfied with the end result,” explained Gunn.

I, Michael Jon Carter, also known as Booster Gold, first graced the pages of comics created by the brilliant mind of Dan Jurgens back in 1986 for Booster Gold #1. In these stories, I was initially depicted as a disreputable football star from the future – the year 2442 to be precise. With my knack for time-travel technology, I leapfrogged back to the present and decided to masquerade as a superhero using rudimentary technology from the future. My intentions were all about fame and fortune, but destiny had other plans. Eventually, I found myself becoming a true hero when I joined forces with the legendary Justice League. Before making my live-action debut in the DC Universe, this beloved character was previously brought to life by Eric Martsolf on Smallville and Donald Faison in Legends of Tomorrow.
