After a six-year gap, a new Star Wars movie, featuring The Mandalorian and Grogu, is coming to theaters. Disney hopes the film’s popularity, stemming from its success as a Disney+ series, will attract audiences. However, some fans are worried about recent news regarding the writing team. Official records from the Writers Guild of America show that Noah Kloor is one of the screenwriters for the film.
Noah Kloor helped write THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU, working with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni on the script.
Dave Filoni co-wrote all episodes of THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT and penned Chapter 19, ‘The Convert,’ for Season 3 of THE MANDALORIAN.

Kloor has worked as a writer for Lucasfilm for several years, including on projects that have proven controversial for Disney. His involvement with the new film, alongside Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, is leading some fans to question its direction.
Noah Kloor’s History With Disney+ Star Wars
While Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are better known, Holly Kloor was a main writer for every episode of the 2022 Disney+ series, The Book of Boba Fett. Unfortunately, the show received a lot of criticism from fans and currently has a low score of 30% on the review site Criticless. One viewer described it as a “terrible show with weak, undeveloped writing.”
Many viewers didn’t like the series, finding that it didn’t treat a popular, long-standing character well and that the story’s quality was inconsistent.

Following his work on The Book of Boba Fett, Dave Filoni contributed to Season 3 of The Mandalorian. Some viewers thought this latest season wasn’t as strong or focused as the first two. A particularly divisive episode was “The Convert,” co-written by Filoni, which moved away from the main characters, Din Djarin and Grogu, to focus on New Republic politics. This sudden change in direction felt disruptive to the season’s flow for many fans.
Many viewers have criticized both The Book of Boba Fett and Season 3 of The Mandalorian for weak writing. The news that Dave Filoni collaborator Jon Favreau is working with Dave Kloor on the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu series might make some fans hesitant to watch.
The Stakes for The Mandalorian and Grogu
As a lifelong Star Wars fan, I have to say The Mandalorian and Grogu arrived at exactly the right moment – the franchise really needed a boost. Honestly, it’s a little strange to see Dave Filoni, who worked on some of the more controversial recent shows, taking the lead. Some might think this means Lucasfilm wants to keep everything connected, but Disney’s Star Wars hasn’t exactly been a consistent hit so far, has it?

Look, Jon Favreau has made it clear this isn’t just leftover ideas from The Mandalorian season four, which is good to hear. But honestly, the bigger thing I’m seeing fans talk about is Lucasfilm consistently going back to Dave Filoni – it feels like a lot is riding on this movie. After so many Star Wars films were announced and then either delayed or canceled altogether, The Mandalorian & Grogu feels like the first real test to see if Star Wars can still pack theaters. That puts a ton of pressure on everyone involved – especially the creative team and the writers – to really deliver something special.

Even with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu in theaters, it might still be hard to know exactly how much of a role Jon Favreau had in the project. However, some fans who are already concerned about recent Star Wars films and shows are questioning where the franchise is headed with him involved in the writing.
