‘Bondi boy’ Larry Emdur breaks down in tears in heartbreaking video addressing Bondi terror attack

Larry Emdur, a host on Channel Seven, became emotional while honoring the victims of the tragic Bondi Beach attack, which resulted in 16 deaths and numerous injuries.

At 61 years old, his voice shook with emotion as he shared a deeply sad video message with everyone affected by the tragedy.

Larry, originally from Bondi, nervously shared with his followers that he’d attempted to create the video around 35 times.

The popular figure announced on Instagram that he wanted to share his thoughts on Sunday, after learning about the attack at the Chanukah by the Sea Jewish festival in Bondi, but admitted he was unable to find the words.

‘I’ll try now, and I don’t know whether I can,’ Larry continued.

I hoped that giving it some time – even just a moment, a few minutes, or several hours – would help me figure out what to say, but I still don’t know.

He expressed his heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to those affected and their families.

Larry, visibly emotional, spoke about how much the iconic Australian beach meant to him, explaining it had been a beloved spot for his family and countless others for generations.

Having spent his childhood at Bondi Beach, he fondly remembers walking across the iconic footbridge – the one often used by photographers – when he was a little boy.

He also shared that he’d grown up playing in the park where the shooting happened, and that Bondi had always been a happy place for him.

Looking back on over 50 or 60 years, I mostly remember happy times with my family – lots of laughter, fun, and beautiful memories.

‘That all changed yesterday for so many families and so many people.

The lives of everyone at the vibrant festival, celebrating life and love, and those enjoying the beach, will never be the same.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve witnessed quite a bit, but even I was shocked by what unfolded at Bondi Beach that day. It was the kind of thing you never expect to see, anywhere, let alone during a relaxed family outing. Honestly, it was something I wouldn’t wish anyone to experience.

I’m deeply saddened by this, and my family shares in that sorrow. We’re all thinking of everyone impacted, and we know so many people have been affected.

‘So lots of love to you all,’ Larry said as he signed off.

As someone who really connects with community, I was so moved by Larry’s post. He shared how heartbroken he and so many others in Bondi are feeling right now, and honestly, it really resonated with me. He even used a little broken heart emoji – it just perfectly captured the sadness everyone’s experiencing.

TV personality Rove McManus offered his condolences on Larry’s post, writing, ‘Such beautiful words. Sending love to you, your family, and everyone impacted by this awful tragedy.’

Bachelor star Tim Robards also messaged Larry: ‘So sad mate. Beautiful words.’
