Bobby’s Final Resting Place in 9-1-1: A Perfect Tribute with One Major Flaw!

Attention: Potential Plot Reveals for Episode 16 of 9-1-1 Season 8. The departure of Bobby, played by Peter Krause, has significantly reshaped the dynamics within 9-1-1. In this episode, the remaining characters face a fresh challenge. The unexpected demise of Bobby marks the first significant character exit since the series started in 2018, and it’s left an indelible mark on the ongoing drama. Angela Bassett’s character, Sergeant Athena Grant-Nash, is now grappling with the role of a widow. The firefighters at LAFD Station 118 are still coming to terms with the shocking loss of their captain, who perished due to a lethal illness.

Previously, Bobby Nash headed up a team consisting of Howard “Chimney” Han (Kenneth Choi), Henrietta “Hen” Wilson (Aisha Hinds), Evan “Buck” Buckley (Oliver Stark), Eddie Diaz (Ryan Guzman), and Ravi Panikkar (Anirudh Pisharody) in the show 9-1-1. However, the highly contagious strain of CCHF (Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever) was more than even a fire captain like Bobby could handle. The consequences of Bobby’s death in season 8 of 9-1-1 are still being explored, but his character will live on in our memories. Unfortunately, a detail from the episode “The Last Alarm” restricts the extent to which Bobby can influence future storylines in 9-1-1.

Bobby Was Buried Next To His Family In Minnesota In 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 16

Athena Decided To Send Him Home

In the 16th episode of season 8 on 9-1-1, Athena found herself grappling with a challenging storyline. After delving into a conspiracy theory investigation, she was forced to face the heartbreaking reality of Bobby’s demise. Meanwhile, as Harry (Elijah M. Cooper) and May Grant (Corinne Massiah) attempted to choose a mausoleum for Bobby, Athena remained skeptical. Following an emotional funeral scene, the episode concluded with Athena, May, and Harry witnessing Bobby’s burial in Minnesota, alongside his late wife and children.

The tragic past of Bobby on the show 9-1-1, particularly the loss of his family, significantly shaped his character evolution. Since the first season, the ghosts of his children Bobby Jr. and Brooke have lingered in Bobby’s life. However, as a fire captain, he appeared to mature and heal over time, finding a new sense of family with Los Angeles’ Station 118 and eventually with Athena. After his demise, Athena made the tough choice to bury him in his hometown, symbolically reuniting him with his deceased kin. This act is emotionally resonant but carries significant implications for the future of 9-1-1.

Bobby’s Burial Site Means Nobody In LA Can Visit His Grave

The Grand Gesture Constricts The Narrative

The passing of Bobby on the show 9-1-1 stirred up disagreement, and burying the fire captain in Minnesota means that the LA team can’t pay their respects at his grave. The members of the LAFD were much more than just colleagues to Bobby, and they should have a suitable place for remembrance. On the other hand, it’s understandable why Athena chose to bury Bobby alongside his late wife and children in Minnesota. While this is the appropriate location for him to rest, it does impact the evolving storylines of 9-1-1 that revolve around grief.

1. Bobby’s demise on 9-1-1 caused quite a controversy, and burying him in Minnesota means that the LA crew can’t pay their respects at his grave. The LAFD members were far more than just workmates to Bobby, and they deserve a fitting place for tribute. However, it makes perfect sense why Athena buried Bobby with his late spouse and children in Minnesota. Nonetheless, this decision negatively affects the developing storylines on 9-1-1 that explore grief.

In the genre of procedural shows, it’s often the case that characters who die don’t just vanish completely. Such is the case with Bobby on 9-1-1, even though his departure was emotional. Bobby may no longer be physically present, but he’ll continue to be a part of the show in spirit. Just like other series with character deaths, they could have utilized Bobby’s grave as a setting, allowing characters like Hen, Buck, or Chimney to pay their respects, share their feelings, or discuss difficult decisions. However, due to Athena’s choice, the team of 118 can’t visit Bobby’s grave (unless they’re willing to make a long journey).

How The LAFD Can Still Honor Bobby In 9-1-1

Captain Nash Deserves To Be Remembered Coast-To-Coast

Despite Athena’s decision about Bobby’s final resting place, there are ways for 9-1-1 to honor both her choice and Bobby’s legacy. Just as 9-1-1: Lone Star pays tribute to the fallen members of AFD Station 126, the LAFD could create an “In Memoriam” display case showcasing photos and uniforms of the deceased firefighters from Station 118. Athena’s choice for the sentimental burial site is a poignant moment in 9-1-1, but it is equally important to establish a West-Coast memorial site for Bobby (and his team) too. For decades, Bobby dedicated his life to selfless public service, and he deserves posthumous recognition that everyone can appreciate.

As an alternative, Athena might buy a vacant plot in Los Angeles, which means that while Bobby’s physical remains will stay in Minnesota, his grieving friends and family can still find solace in California. This way, the show “9-1-1” can leverage the emotional impact of Bobby’s demise without compromising the sincerity of where he is laid to rest. If there isn’t a suitable place for mourning—be it a simple memorial or a poignant mausoleum—the members of the 118 will struggle to find closure following Bobby’s death. Although moving on will always be challenging, “9-1-1” could help make the process slightly less difficult.
