Boba Fett’s Star Wars Future: Temuera Morrison ‘Put On the Shelf’

It appears Disney is putting Boba Fett on the back burner. The popular Star Wars bounty hunter hasn’t appeared in any live-action Star Wars projects since his Disney+ show ended without much fanfare. Temuera Morrison, the actor who plays Boba Fett, has shared some thoughts about what the future holds for his character in the franchise.

Morrison shared with Inverse that Lucasfilm reached out to him after he playfully suggested fans ask Disney to revive Boba Fett. They informed him that the character was being put on hold, but might be revisited in the future. As Morrison put it, they told him, “You’ve been put on the shelf, Boba Fett. We might open up the jar later.”

Though the Boba Fett series on Disney+ didn’t quite live up to expectations, Daniel Logan doesn’t look back with any regrets. He shares, “It was a huge opportunity for me. Working on Boba Fett, especially alongside Ming-Na Wen, made me feel like this could be a long-term thing – seasons two, three, and four! Even though that didn’t happen, we all had a great experience, and I was thrilled to be asked back after so many years.”

Despite the show ending, Morrison hasn’t ruled out returning as the Mandalorian. He explains he’s simply ‘on hold,’ comparing himself to a jar of peaches – meaning he’ll be back, and even better, when the time is right.
