Bob Dylan has announced a controversial new concert rule for his UK tour that all fans must follow.

The renowned music icon, who’s 84 years old, plans to perform 13 concerts in the United Kingdom and Ireland as part of the expansive Rough and Rowdy Ways tour towards the end of this year.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve embraced the tech-free environment that the artist behind “Blowin’ In The Wind” has instated during performances. This means no phones during the show, creating an unplugged and immersive experience for all.

For the singer, it’s not a surprise that he’ll once again be working with Yondr during his upcoming tour, just as he did in 2022 and 2024. This means no video cameras or mobile phones will be allowed, enhancing the exclusivity of the event.

Before the event begins, team members will assist ticket holders in securing their mobile devices inside a lockable and safe case. This case will be kept by attendees for the entire duration of the night.

During an emergency, attendees are free to access their phones whenever needed by heading to a clearly marked zone specifically designed for mobile device usage.

Many well-known musicians, such as Arctic Monkeys, Jack White, and The Lumineers, are among those who have adopted this approach.

Fan favorite “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door” is set to make stops in Swansea, Coventry, Leeds, Glasgow, Belfast, Killarney, and Dublin.

Tickets the UK shows go on sale from Planet Rock Tickets at 10am on Friday 18th July.

In the previous year, supporters of the musician took over social media platforms to voice their thoughts about a stringent rule. They expressed themselves by posting their opinions online.

Bob Dylan is planning phone-free concerts, where attendees must store their phones in a designated bag during the show. This takes us to some truly extraordinary times.

I appreciate their aim for promoting mindfulness and living in the moment, yet it feels unusual to prohibit capturing memories through photography or videography. Fortunately, they do allow phone usage; they merely restrict it instead.

While some other fans cheered Bob for prohibiting cameras, they expressed enthusiasm about “savoring the experience,” posting on platform X (previously known as Twitter).

It’s commendable that Bob Dylan prohibits mobile homes at his concerts. This encourages people to focus on the experience and savor the performance without distractions.

It’s great that performances are more interactive these days, allowing fans to truly appreciate and engage with the artists they pay to see, not just on their phone screens. Kudos to Bob for making this happen.

‘Over the past few times he’s performed in England, he’s enforced this rule. Don’t you think people could manage without their phones for an hour and a half? If absolutely necessary, you can step outside to check it.’

Dylan concludes the American portion of his The Rough and Rowdy Ways tour in September, then heads overseas to initiate the European leg in Prague, Czech Republic on October 4th.
