I recently had the chance to play Supercell’s new game, which they’ve been quietly testing. I’ve been really intrigued ever since they first announced it last year. It’s different from anything Supercell has done before, but in a really good way – it reminds me of the excitement I felt when I first discovered mo.co.
I’ve played a lot of the new game, and I have some initial thoughts I want to share. If you’re also excited about Supercell’s newest title, let’s get right into my first impressions.
Boat Game has a good mix of naval and land combat with visually appealing graphics
I was immediately struck by how polished and clean the game looks. The user interface and character designs reminded me a little of Mo.co – not a perfect match, but with a similar feel. Supercell has done a really great job with these character updates.

The game is easy to use and get around in. Right now, there isn’t a ton to do, but it’s good that the game doesn’t throw a lot of options at you all at once. The visuals are pleasing – smooth, colorful, and easy to look at – and, crucially, the gameplay stays interesting even after playing for a long time. This keeps things from feeling stale or repetitive.
I was impressed by how the game immediately introduced both its shooting and naval combat. The tutorial starts with basic on-foot action, then smoothly moves into a boat sequence – a smart way to showcase all the gameplay has to offer right away.
I especially like the mobile controls – they’re really useful! The game automatically fires for you, and it’s easy to reach the buttons for power-ups, jumping, and switching weapons. There’s also an auto-reload feature, though I would have preferred a dedicated button and a display showing how many bullets I have left – that feels like something the game is missing.

I especially loved the island system. It was great being able to quickly travel between islands, each with its own unique missions and challenges. I have to admit, I also enjoyed joining missions that other players had already started, grabbing some coins, and snagging a chest for myself!
The potential of multiplayer battles and Co-op makes this an attractive package
Honestly, the best part was how unpredictable everything was. Each island felt totally fresh, like a little collection of mini-games. One minute I’d be battling monsters, the next I’d be guarding an egg, and then I’d just be running around collecting chests for the locksmith. It kept things really interesting!
The game’s gear system, accessed through chests, is well-designed, though it could benefit from a faster progression rate. While earning new weapons and items feels rewarding, it can take a while, particularly if you’re playing by yourself.

The game is much more enjoyable when played with others. While I had fun playing alone, the experience really came alive when I was joined by more players – it just felt more energetic and lively.
The game is already fun to play on your own, but the real challenge for Supercell will be adding player-versus-player battles and potentially cooperative gameplay. Features like voice chat and the ability to team up with friends would really enhance the experience if they’re implemented.
Honestly, the game runs really well – I didn’t have any frustrating lag or delays. My only real gripe is the movement feels a little slow. It could use a bit more pep, you know? It reminds me of when mo.co first came out – it felt a little sluggish then too. A faster pace would really make it shine!
Final Thoughts on Boat Game Alpha 2
Boat Game Alpha 2 shows a lot of promise as a potential hit from Supercell. While still experimental and early in development, it’s already incredibly engaging and makes you want to keep playing.
