Boaster played exceptionally well in Fnatic’s 2-0 victory against RRQ at Champions 2025, securing 36 kills with a remarkable 52% headshot rate, and confidently taunted his critics throughout the match.
During Fnatic’s dominant 2-0 victory over RRQ at VALORANT Champions 2025 in Paris, Jake “Boaster” Howlett delivered an outstanding performance. After the match, he addressed critics in a press conference.
Fnatic wasn’t at their best in the VCT EMEA Stage 2 tournament, finishing in 5th-6th place. But according to Boaster, their focus during that stage was actually on getting ready for Champions. Before that, they had a strong summer, finishing second at both VALORANT Masters Toronto and the Esports World Cup.
Boaster: “All the people who throw hate my way, it doesn’t matter”

When a reporter asked Boaster about the criticism he received regarding his performance stats during Stage 2, he was asked if he had a response for those who doubted him.
Boaster stated he’s focused on achieving his own success, not on what others are doing. He added that negative comments don’t bother him at all.
I only value the opinions of those closest to me. If my teammates and the people who support us believe I’m a good in-game leader, that means more to me than anything anyone else thinks.
When I play well, that’s great, but my main goal is to be the best leader possible. I’m committed to constantly improving and reaching my full potential as a leader.
Turns out our leader was practicing their shooting today – and someone joked they were hitting 50% of their shots as headshots! So, to anyone criticizing, be warned – I’m coming for you next!

During VALORANT Champions 2025, Boaster had an incredible performance against Rex Regum Qeon, winning 2-0 with a remarkable 52% headshot rate. Even while playing the supportive Controller role on both maps – using Omen and Astra – he managed 36 kills across Ascent and Abyss. Boaster was clearly feeling confident, even jokingly dancing and exclaiming “oh sh*t, I’m turning into a monster!” – a typical moment of fun from the Fnatic in-game leader.
Boaster says Fnatic are “looking juicy” at VALORANT Champions
Boaster and Fnatic started strong with an impressive win, showing they’re back to their best. While 2024 had its ups and downs – the team played well in Europe, but didn’t perform as well in major international tournaments – this opening victory is a positive sign.
Honestly, 2024 was really tough on me mentally. There was so much pressure, and after every practice, we’d end up talking about how we needed to improve and push harder. But this year feels different – when things aren’t going perfectly, there’s a lot less stress and we’re all a bit more relaxed about it, which is a welcome change.
We weren’t at our best in Stage 2, but my main goal was to qualify for the Champions tournament and get as much practice as possible for it.
We feel a noticeable difference in our energy and presence on stage compared to our performances in Stage 2 and the first day of Championships. We’re clearly improving and playing much better. We’re currently on a four-game winning streak and feeling confident.
Fnatic will now compete against MIBR in Group B of VALORANT Champions 2025. MIBR, like Fnatic, had a strong start, winning their first match against China’s top-ranked team, BLG.
The match will be a true test for Boaster’s strategic skills, as he goes up against MIBR’s team leader, Andrew “Verno” Maust, who is now fully in charge of making calls during the game. If either team wins, they’ll take the lead in Group B and secure a spot in the VALORANT Champions playoffs.
